Talking Furniture

Nothing. Except as a topic for a park bench full of nostalgia-drunk retired radio groupies.

Let the flaming begin... ;)

Talking Furniture is just being nasty. Some of us like to talk about radio. This is supposed to be an interesting message list for RADIO is is not? From what I hear everyday here in SF, KTRB is the MOST interesting thing to talk about, so stop being a bonehead. Nothing else going on here is there? So shaddap okay? You know you seem like a nice guy. Where did "Tallking Furniture" come from? Mt friend Bill and I were eating at Carl's last night after driving to Stockton to buy a parakeet to replace the one he had that got stuck in the rolled up newspaper, and we were thinking "Talking Furniture" is an old 1920's phrase for one of those big old wooden Philco Radios in a cabinet..You know like the kind they used to listen to Amos and Andy on? Is that it?

On a related note do any of you know where I can order a set of those cool looking decals of the siihouette of a naked lady leaning against a martini glass? Man those are sharp. I saw a Swift truck with a set of those on his mud flaps, and they are so cool I know they would look so good on my blue Roadmaster!

Check out the truck stops: Flying J's, TA'S, Freightliner Shops, Kenworth Shops, Peterbuilt Shops, Piliot Truck Stops any other truck accessory store.

Let's see. KTRB was founded by Thomas R. McTammary and William Bates. so the "TR" stands for "Thomas R." while the "B" stands for "Bates". When I worked at KTRB when it was a Spanish Station, we joked that the call letters "TRB" stood for "Tacos, Rice and Beans". ;D

KTRB means Keep Talk Radio Boring...Just kiddin'.

The news station in Houston has this slogan..."KTRH means Keep Tuned Right Here"...We changed that to "KTRH means Keep the Resume Handy!"

Interestingly, since Monday 2/5, KTRB has aired several promos inciting listener response as 'to
what should the new format be?' They probably already know what they're going to do
come March 1, 2007, but I'm curious what you think...I initially thought maybe KTRB would do a
standards/MOR-type format, but my gut is now telling me it'll be sports or all news.

Thoughts, anyone?

Somehow I am still leaning towards Adult Standards, since San Francisco is without a station. I doubt it would be Sports, since that format is on 2 stations (KNBR-680 and KTCT-1050) and both are owned by Cumulus, The Raiders is on KSFO and The Oakland A's is on KYCY-1550 and KIFR-106.9 and without some local team on your sports station, that format would be doomed, even on a 50000 Watt Blowtorch. Now All News, that might be something. There are some markets with 2 All News Stations (New York And Los Angeles comes To Mind), but Pappas wasn't successful with All News Radio in his own hometown of Fresno (Remember KMPH-107.5?) before he switched to News/Talk which he wasn't successful with that format either (pulverized by local legend KMJ-580). My bet is still Adult Standards.
