What Makes a Radio Station "Good"

Not many. Off the top of my head, Tony Maddox, Tony Mann, Terrence McKeever (part of the Dees thing). Obviously, unless your initials were "TM", it was hard to get a transfer. Chuck Browning worked at both, and Tom Dooley worked at WMPS and KHJ.

Don Steele started small in California, and didn't get past KOIL, Omaha in his trek to the east. From there it was Spokane, Portland and San Francisco before achieving KHJ immortality.

Wink Martindale went from WHBQ to KHJ, but like Dees found greater success at other L.A. radio stations.

Another WHBQ to KHJ transfer was J.B. Stone who did overnights at Q in 1974. I believe Dickie Doo Edwards was there briefly in 1980, but worked for RKO in Boston between WHBQ and KHJ.

He did duty on both sides of town apparently (as did I). He was at Q circa 74, and he was the morning man who took Phil Gardner's place (who took Rick Dee's place) at WMPS, circa 76 -77.
