> Word is format change in 2 weeks..How true is it?
>
it must be true.

they sold the mega hummer, i saw it the other day pulling a trailer with lawnmowers, weedeaters and leaf blowers on it in my neighborhood.

they were going door to door leaving business cards for mega mowers lawn service.

you notice TheClearAnswer has not been here in a while telling us how great mega is ...he must be too busy in his office getting ready for the switch or packing his bags because clear canned him for the mega messups he's had...mega,sports animal, sam malone.

hmm maybe that was ken going door to door looking for work.
______________

Don't laugh. Someone at CC said the Mega Hummer was stolen last weekend (for real).

Their new PD, Bobby Ramos, just started a couple of weeks ago.
His last station was KPRR in El Paso.
After a quick look at their website, it seems ot be targeted at hispanics, but has more English language music than Mega.
All any of us can do is have fun speculating, but IF they do change, that would be my prediction.

Because you dance to disco but you still like rock.

What would Houston radio professionals like to see there?
(Personally, not predicted)
Call me nuts but I'd like to hear pure acoustic Classical or Pops.

HD, classical and resurrecting "Rock 101" (with comparisons to Boston and Washington/Baltimore)

OK, nuts. (Just kidding.) ;-)

But seriously, classical formats sound to me like a job for HD. Speaking of which, does anyone know whether there are plans to put classical on HD in Houston? (I know of plans in Washington, DC, and Boston, two markets that, unless I'm mistaken, seem to be more friendly towards classical. In DC, for example, 103.5 FM HD will be programmed with "long form, in-depth classical" and 104.1 FM HD will be "Classical vocal music "Viva La Voce" - see
http://www.radio-info.com/mods/board?Post=634811&Board=washbal.)

Also, FWIW, Sirius has three classical streams including one devoted to pops.

... Hey, wait a minute, I just thought of something -- Maybe Clear Channel could bring back "Rock 101" as an HD signal. Although HD is young, that would not be an unprecedented move. Consider:

* In Boston last year, Entercom jumped on the "Jack" bandwagon when it flipped the dance-leaning Star 93-7 (a rhythmic AC that had some CHR tendencies) to adult hits as WMKK Mike FM. However, Entercom kept streaming the old Star 93-7 online and now has announced plans to put it on HD.

* In Washington/Baltimore, Infinity (now CBS again) killed the old alternative WHFS (which was actually the second rock incarnation of that, if you know DC radio history) and put a Spanish format on the 99.1 FM frequency. Then it took one of its Baltimore frequencies, 105.7 FM, programmed it with talk during the day but programmed it with alternative rock on the evenings and weekends, and subsequently changed the call letters of that frequency to WHFS. And now it's announced that "HFS alternative" will be an HD format.
So maybe Clear Channel could resurrect Rock 101 in a similar way.

Also "The Loop" 97.9 WLUP in Chicago, which I had the opportunity to hear this past summer was an outstanding hard rock station, flipped to classic rock in the fall and now has the returned the format to it's HD2 signal.

KLOL - All Comedy Radio

It'll make you laugh out loud

Re: KLOL - All Comedy Radio

Wonder if "The Bud Fletcher Set" or the "Justin Wilson Classics Hour" would make 15 seconds of the board meeting?

Although I did hear a (well edited) Carlin set on a local FM recently.
That was neat, different and actually gathered a small crowd...

KIOL finally got it in gear.
Displaced KLOL fans found a home.
No one really wants a resurrection anymore.

What station?

I'll top that...

If that's nuts, Kendro, mine's way out in left field...

Classic Dance 101 KLOL; all the dance hits and disco you hoped never would be heard on the radio again.

Can we say Diva 101? Similar to WDVW "Diva 92.3" Laplace/New Orleans or WCDV "Capital City Diva @ 103.3" Hammond/Baton Rouge? Modern & Classic dance tunes...Those stations were intersting at first, but the burnout factor is worse than any other format.

What I'd love to hear in Houston

OK, I'm not a radio professional, just a radio-phile, but I'd love to have someone bring a tripleA station here. I'm a lifelong listener of KBCO in Denver (sniffling back homesick tears here, LOL) and I really really miss the format. Every time I'm home I get such a thrill from hearing my favorite eclectic artists on the radio, plus my favorite Texas singer-songwriters and Texas blues bands, that don't even get mainstream airplay in Houston. Oh well, if it were commercially feasible, someone would probably have done it by now.

Jack as a second choice, I guess.
