Ok I am going to get sirius but what model should I get. I am kind of confused between the replay models, the older models on clearance and such. Can anyone recommend a model to get? Also can you explain how it works in simple terms. Does the audio come out through a FM frequency in my car or??? Just am new to all this satellite stuff and would greatly appreciate some help. Thanks

> There are some great deals going on now for all sorts of Sirius setups. If youre not intersted in record/playback features, you can get sets ups for less than 50 bucks. You can have either FM modulted or direct aux input(better) ways to listen. If you want the pnp set up, this will allow you to listen at home and in your car. There are units just for the car, just for the home or for both. Check out www.Siriusbackstage.com for some great help and offers too.

I have the Starmate. I'm not sure how strongly I recommend it as I had an out of box failure and had to get it replaced almost immediately. I must, however, give Sirius customer service credit for being efficient on getting me a replacement. Also, it was reasonably priced and portable, which were the two main qualities I wanted. Of course, if I knew I would have an out of box failure, I might have opted for a little higher priced unit. It, along with most, maybe all, of the plug and play units, does transmit audio through an FM frequency, though you can buy a tape adapter separately if you want.

I bought the Starmate in mid-October and have had no problems with it. I also purchased its home kit in the meantime and paid less than $100 for everything. (And I didn't even bother with the rebate, which would have given me back $30.)

As one of my friends commented, it's just a matter of how much or how little you want (or have) to spend.

Don't know if anyone has told you, but when you do purchase your receiver, you'll want to activate the service online. I was told that online activation saves you $5 over calling to activate your service ($10 rather than $15). When I did my online activation, Sirius only charged me $5. I don't know if I just happened to stumble on a promotion or what, but I'll take it!

I do recommend the plug and play, as you can really use it almost anywhere. I recently rented a car to drive from Phoenix to San Diego (and back) and my Starmate worked perfectly the whole trip!
