What Morning Show Do you Listen To?

D

Ever sense Alice started playing music in the mornings and cut their breaks shorter and now stop the show at 9, I have stopped listening to the station...Pretty sad after 10+ years they threw away their listeners like that. Now I listen to WJFK's "Big O and Dukes" show as my morning show! I listen via web stream! Everyone check them out.

Just curious, what do all of you listen to....and did you listen to Alice in the past?

I listen to NPR on KQED. Those guys are wacky! The fart jokes are funny, and their prank calls are super-cool.

Sylvia Poggioli got off a good one the other day. And who can forget Robert Siegel's antics!

I have made the switch over to Satellite Radio. Commercial free, it is great. So I listen to Magic Matt on Sirius XM '70's on 7'. Mark Goodman on 'The Big 80's...80's on 8 'is good as well.

Ever since KYLD terminated "The Doghouse," which will always be the best morning show in Bay Area history, Bay Area Morning Radio for the most part SUCKS!!! The only decent Bay Area morning show worth listening to is The Woody Show on Live 105. Other than that, I would listen to either "The Morning Mash-up" on XM radio's Top 20 on 20 channel, or I would listen to Eric and Kathy on WTMX in Chicago (http://www.wtmx.com)

B.T.W. Any word on KYLD's search for a new morning show?

They just don't want to spend the money, Hanky! The longer they go without hiring a real morning show, the more they save. With the state of radio right now, saving money seems to be trumping good on-air product most places.

I do not care for the Morning Mash Up. I do not find them funny at all, they seem to really try too hard and it comes through. I used to listen to WTMX when they were simulcast here in the Bay Area for a short while. I think it was on 95.7 here for a while right after Z-95.7, I think. If not, I know someone out there will correct me.

Consider yourself corrected...though you're close. When Bonneville first bought 95.7 from Westinghouse (it had been KPIX-FM), they simulcast WTMX for a couple of months to fill the airtime- the call letters were KOYT. So the simulcast was right before Z-95.7.

12+ ratings show Alice above a 2 share for the first time in a long time...

Interesting. I have WJFK-FM as one of the presets on my Grace WiRadio for Big O & Dukes, and for Mike O'Meara in the afternoon. My main problem with WJFK and other CBS-operated webstreams is that they just don't get it:

* They think everyone is listening on a computer (they're not);

* They run the saaaaaame aaaaaannoyyyyyying Internet-only ads over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over;

* They tend to run the same imaging repeatedly during breaks, as in [SHOTGUN FX] WJFK-FM, Washington's Talk Leader [silence] [SHOTGUN FX] WJFK-FM, Washington's Talk Leader [silence] [SHOTGUN FX] WJFK-FM, Washington's Talk Leader...

* Lather, rinse, repeat, lather, rinse, repeat.

I listen to KGO in the morning. Stan Burford makes traffic tolerable...too bad he's only on the air a minute at a time. NPR and KCBS are close seconds.

I know, I'm a wierdo- I don't listen to FM or satellite radio like everyone else. That is, unless I'm near the bay- then I'll listen to KCSM. Good stuff.

Primarily, I listen to KCBS' Bunger/Taylor/Bitker when awaking, and then driving during
my short 10-minute commute. KCBS' been on my alarm clock radios since 1988...

Once in awhile, I alternately tune to KCSM Jazz, KFOG, KSEG (Eagle 96.9, Sacto), or
KFRC 1550 when in the car...

The younger people I work with (age 26-40) tend to switch between KISQ, KMEL or
maybe KIOI...

When checking e-mail, I'd listen to MOR Memories dot com (later known as Adult Standards
And More dot com), a channel that has since gone bust...

THE 60s Channel on Sirius/XM ,, the morning show phlash phelps ,, his whole show is PH balanced, this guy is like John mack flanagan, connects with the listeners! been there since day one, and he claims to have been fired 17 times in his career! Then the 70 s channel Magic matt alan,, this guy is funny, only if theyd let him ramble longer, hes more entertaining than the music,Sirius XMs playlist has shrunk! You could write the entire playlist on a napkin, a sanitary napkin @ that,! John Zellner if you read these, your totally terrestrial! Bring Pat Clarke back, he had far more experience than you! I used to be excited about XM,, Sirius has killed off XMs 60s channel! kenny in concord

Pat Clarke is retired to Oklahoma for now, and building a house on some land his mom had. He's ok, got a good settlement, but don't count him out of the audio world yet.

So he's NOT retired? Just taking a break? If he got a good settlement, does that mean he sued someone, but it is not necessarily his retirement.

He didn't sue anyone, just got severance. If he sells a place in DC, though, he can buy a lot of house in Oklahoma and have money left over.

A dream come true, get Pat Clarke back, and Show 'Broadway Bill Lee" the door,, I would rather have a root canal, than listen to his silly rhymes! Pat Clarke was real, talked about the music, Bill when i need a laugh, Its Magic Mat Alan! Pat Clarke had 7 years of middays, then the merger, and hes gone,, NOT RIGHT! Pat had alot of loyal listeners, not to mention being the PD @ the 60s channel, now you can write down the 60s playlist on a napkin! kenny in concord

I haven't heard Bill Lee in many years, but I thought he was great on (the Big 610/KFRC in the early 80s. This was before he adopted the "Broadway" prefix. Always very entertaining, and I though the rhymes were genius.

He also did morning drive at KMEL in the 90s, though he was perhaps not as brilliant in that run.

I'm surprised Lee is not in Kenny's pantheon of Bay Area Top 40 greats, along with Tom Campbell and John Mack Flanagan.
