What next?

What changes are on the horizon for radio in SC? Columbia got news/talk on FM, GSP got a "Hot AC" on 102.5, and Charleston KICKED out the BOX this year. Heres what I'd like to see...

Charleston....
I think this market needs an alternative/modern rock station again. Or maybe I'm just still bitter over the loss of Wave! Also, I wouldn't mind seeing Cumulus flip 96.9 to something else. Move Z, and put sports on 93.3?

Columbia....
I still would love to see a CHR war in this town. 104.7 has been the lone ranger for far too long. Also, with this being a big URBAN market, 103.9 doesen't cut it as THE urban/hip-hop station. The signal is very spotty in key parts.

Myrtle Beach...
A mainstream AC would really suit this market. 105.9 is way too soft and 92.1 is Hot AC.

GSP....
How about an Urban station? Why not at least try it on 96.7? Also, this market really needs a classic hits/oldies station. Why not 101.1? Planet and Rock 101 overlap A LOT! Just direct listeners to 93.3 and voila!

That's just my take. Like it or leave it.

Greenville already has JAMZ 107.3 that gets great ratings with urban. And Hot 98.1 is very urban leaning as well. Not sure another urban station is needed.

I agree that they should merge the Planet and Rock 101. Rock 101 is just plain stale in its classic rock rotation and the Planet has what I like to call "redneck" new rock with the classic mixed in. It would be fine with me if they just merged the two together and played classic rock with a bit of that Planet garbage thrown in to appease their fan base.

As I mentioned in another thread, I'd like to see a true new/modern rock station on 96.7. Don't think it could do any worse than Shine is in the ratings.

If Entercom were to blow up any station, it would be 93.3, not Rock 101. I despise 93.3, their redneck rock, horrid morning show, everything. They can not properly program active rock. Rock101 is not great, but not as bad. If Clear Channel would put even the national premium choice rock format on 96.7. It'd be an improvement.

I would like classic hits also. Don't know who would ever do it though, as Entercom has killed 2 oldies stations and Clear Channel has never really been interested in classic hits or oldies here.

I don't see Cumulus flipping 96.9 The Wolf anytime soon, I noticed recently they have tweaked the playlist. Also Kickin' 92.5 numbers aren't nothing to go crazy over for 96.9 to flip.

Something Cumulus could do in Georgetown county is drop country from 106.5 because 96.9 The Wolf comes in clear and into Myrtle Beach. Remember when 106.5 wanted to brand as The Wolf but 96.9 The Wolf when owned by Citadel wouldn't allow it because of overlap.

Long story short this could help in the long run maybe and help money wise. Plus the 106.5 signal isn't all that great in Myrtle Beach. Also could 106.5 get stronger signal possible?
