What now at WELI

Now that Jerry Kristafer is leaving WELI, what/who will replace him? Isn't he the only local show now? Maybe the I-man cometh? :)
WABC's signal is not at good as WFAN's so New Havenites would have a greater opportunity to listen.

It makes sense for WELI to carry Imus because the I-Man is well known to New Haven listeners. As popular as John LaBarca is in Bridgeport, I don't believe he is that well known to morning listeners in New Haven. Jerry Kristafer has been a one-man show for the last year since Clear Channel closed the local newsroom. I don't know of anyone who could replace Jerry as both ops mgr and morning host on a New Haven news-talk station. Imus sounds like the best way out for a company that has drastically degraded WELI over the years.

>Terrific...another local radio station bites the dust

With the exception of a morning drive show, WELI bit the dust some time ago.

You still have the Home Shopper and At Home With The Allens. By the way, I sent both them and WELI an E-mail telling them to correct the frequency error on the Allen's webpage.

Check it out at: http://www.athomewithallens.com/

I guess they don't mind if people tune into The FAN

I suppose it shouldn't bother me since I haven't worked for the station since September, but something like that should have been fixed within a day or so of being notified. Its been over a month since those e-mails were sent.

Since WAVZ switched to ESPN, I wonder what might be for sale soon, myself. I agree, WELI been dead quite a while, and could use new owners.

Yes, Imus is now on 960

WELI picked up his WABC show starting yesterday. NERW reported it last week.

BTW the 4 big New York AM signals (660, 710, 770, 880) all have strong signals up the Shoreline.

I'd rather fight static on 770 than listen to WELI. Their "local" news weather and traffic is a joke, considering it comes from Syracuse.

Love 1010 WINS! You're right, it's about as New York as it gets. And WCBS 880 has great news coverage of events here in Connecticut. It's like our own local new station. Much closer than Syracuse :)

(Un) fortunately, WTIC has become the defacto news department of the state. 880 does a good job in FFLD county but not much beyond usually....there have been exceptions.
