What other Pittsburgh Stations will have the effect from B 94?

I say more than anything the B will hurt star. I think It could put Kiss's ratings down a bit unless they go all rhythmic. What are your thoughts?

Well, that depends, that is on what format Star may decide to end up being in the end. As far as KISS, they better start to worry.

I don't like the formats to begin with, but wasn't KISS beating B-93.7/B-94 before the flip to K-ROCK when they added Howard Stern? I guess the initial momentum will certainly help B-93.7/B-94 but in the long run, does it have what it takes to overtake KISS? Again, just an observation from someone not in radio.

Next, please flip sister station Star 100.7 to a K-ROCK type format and put Opie & Anthony on in the mornings.

Question: Did Kiss FM play records like DMX "Ruff Ryders Anthem" or Notorious BIG's "One More Chance" prior to today?

Biggie, yes, I believe I played that record when I worked there.

DMX, I don't know.

Yes, KISS played Ruff Ryders Anthem prior to today. I'm surprised KISS hasn't started the bashing of the B today!

It's kind of funny...I'm hearing songs on the B that leave me going, "Wow, that's a good song...considering KISS never played it before!" It's making me realize what a limited playlist KISS runs with.

All Access is reporting that Star will be an 80s/90s station and more of an AC (as opposed to Hot AC).

Not surprising that Kiss hasn't mentioned the B. They don't want to give the audience the opportunity to even think about switching over.

I knew a lot of people that started listening to country when B-94 closed shop. Maybe the country stations will take a hit.

I certainly hope so.

It would be interesting to see if WAMO-FM starts skewing a little older as Kiss concentrates on more of the new urban stuff. I'm guessing they'll play that up and the Fergie, Carrie Underwood etc will go bye-bye from Kiss's playlist.

John- it's interesting you say that about country.

It's often been said country is the new Adult AC. Shania Twain and Faith Hill are hardly Minnie Pearl and Tammy Wynette.

Which has got a lot of traditional country fans unhappy and is one of the reasons you saw revival of veteran artists like Hank Williams Jr., George Jones, and Johnny Cash through the last decade.

But I found it interesting you said old B-94 listeners went to country because a lot of the old rock fans went to country as well in the early '90s with the rise of grunge.

I think that's telling, so I submit to you the next catchphrase-

"You know your musical genre has gone to he11 when your fans start listening to country instead!"

I personally would like to see WAMO-FM go to a Classic Soul/Motown Sound. They've toed the line over the years between straight Urban and Churban, but they've never tried skewing Urban AC or older. I think it could work in this market, but it would have to be on an FM with a powerful enough signal. It wouldn't survive on an AM...too many attempts have been tried and failed.
