What Paul Harvey meant to Citadel

This is from an article in the Chicago Tribune by Phil Rosenthal:

"A 2007 National Public Radio report said Harvey was responsible for as much as 60 percent of the revenue of Citadel Broadcasting's ABC Radio Networks, which syndicated him. Asked by analysts a couple months later, Farid Suleman, Citadel's chairman and chief executive, called Harvey "a great part of our business" but "not significant anymore to the company in terms of overall profitability."

Shrewd industry observers will tell you that's only because the 10-year, $100 million contract Harvey scored in 2000 essentially gave him around 90 cents of every dollar his show made, which still wasn't that bad a deal for Citadel".

Suleman is a dillweed; especially if Paul Harvey's program contributed as much revenue as reported in this post.

Mark, methinks you're being too kind to the poster boy for EVERYTHING that's wrong with radio. The dill weed hasn't (as of this writing) even posted any kind of tribute to one of the great broadcasters of our time. Of course, there IS something about Suleman that indicates he doesn't even know what a broadcaster is.

Jerry del Colliano puts it best this morning:

"Fagreed has failed as a CEO -- under his stewardship Citadel stock is worth less than a dime.

Failed as a leader of women and men who care about what they do for a living -- under his rule more employees have been fired than under the previous regimes.

And he failed at common decency -- it doesn't cost anything to give sincere and honest appreciation to your employees -- current and former -- as well as those who passed away after a lifetime of distinguished service.

I'm sorry, but for Fagreed it's just another way of being a jerk.

And to borrow a much used and favorite Paul Harvey phrase, for Citadel there is no "rest of the story"

I used the term "dillweed" because I figured the word I wanted to use would be deleted. ;D

Wouldn't it be great if either someone, or some group that actually cared about broadcasting and personnel, purchased ABC from Citadel? Or better Citadel shareholders would revolt and remove
Mr. Dillweed as CEO and send him packing with his golden parachute.
