What Sells

There have been questions on this site about what are the key demographics advertisers are looking for. One of the advertising rags had the details, and I am paraphrasing. The number one demographic for media buys is ADULTS 25-54. The second biggest demo for RFP's is Women 25-54 and the third is Males 25-54. 18-34 Adults is number four. 25-54 represents 67% of the business placed in radio and 90% of the dollars are 6a-7p. Nights and Weekends are usually bonus, except for special sports broadcasts.

Which stations are performing best from an advertisers point of view? In the July trend the top five stations in this market to buy would be KUBE, KPLZ, KMPS, KZOK, KCMS. So these would be your trend winners. Needless to say most advertisers buy on a four-book or two-book, but I thought this would shed a different perspective on who wins a trend or book from an advertising perspective.

Isn't this rather obvious? We all know 25-54 is THE game. It is irritating when sales people think they have to point that out in the hallways and on radio boards!
