What should be done with Ion?

Was just about to post this. They talk about acquiring 'A' quality syndicated shows and having morecently original content. They also state about building additional networks. What type of new networks could they create? Would these be on cable/OTA? It would be good if they created high quality factual type shows a difference from the drama/reality/comedy on CBS/ABC/NBC/Fox/The CW.

In my market at the time (Dayton, OH) ... ION (at the time PAX) was carried via secondary affiliation on WBDT, then a defacto WB O&O, which was briefly owned by Paxson Communications. Long after their sale to ACME from Pax, they continued to air the Worship Network overnights.

WBDT aired Pax's primetime lineup (i.e. Touched by an Angel, Diagnosis Murder, Promised Land, Weakest Link, etc.) in the mornings and in prime access time. WBDT, in their early days as a WB station, even aired Touched by an Angel in pattern at 7:00 pm before WB primetime, while Diagnosis Murder and Dr. Quinn aired in the mornings.

The morning reruns of Touched by an Angel actually beat Live! with Regis and Kelly, and ran a close second to Jerry Springer in the Dayton market for a period during the 2001-02 season.

"What should be done with Ion?"

I usually don't make negative comments just to make them, but who cares? The "network" has been a waste of perfectly good broadcast bandwidth for years.

In my market (New Bedford / Providence).....it's even worse than that.

WPXQ-69 acquired the zombie license of another market station (WLWC-28).....for the sole purpose of getting "Must Carry" status for ION Life on Virtual 28.1....with the market losing netlet "Movies!" in the process, since no other market station has seen fit to add it.

I can't watch the family movies because Charlotte doesn't have an affiliate. I can see what they air because Greensboro does but I would need a better antenna, assuming one would work.

PAX also aired The Love Boat, Here's Lucy, The Hogan Family, Eight is Enough and I think Alice and The Facts of Life. I say "I Think" I seen the promos for them but not the actual show. Oh PAX hated the work "reruns". I was on the air one night and I said PAX will be airing reruns like The Love Boat and Here's Lucy. Well the phone rang and it was somebody from PAX saying I better stop saying the word "reruns" or else !! They only air NEW shows I was told but Here's Lucy ???
