WHAT SHOULD ION TV DO FOR THIS FALL?

Since Ion TV has Mama's Family and the Wonder Years, what should the network add this fall? Should have add movies to their prime-time lineup? Should they air a movie every weeknight at 9PM?

Hopefully ION will get its act together and start showing classic TV. Maybe they'll get to some shows like Welcome Back Kotter and have them show an entire run of it without them cutting the show all together after a few weeks of showing them. I hope that they don't do it again to Amen and especially to Alice and decide to drop those shows after a few weeks.

Let Saturday and Sunday night be ION's movie nights and have the classic shows on on weekdays. And another thing, get the BODOG wrestling out of here.

RHI Entertainment will begin programming movies on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Nights on ION beginning 6/29.

Just watch and see if they show the same movies over and over again like they do other channels. Will these be movies that are good(classics and top notch movies) or are second rate movies that should have been on video in the first place?

I heard on Sitcoms Online (I believe) that ION has dramatically increased ratings with their prime-time programming (especially Mama's Family). I think its time for ION to take a risk and expand their schedule now. If the ratings increased so much, then that means more people are after these older shows. TVLand must be getting their viewer preferences from another planet! Classic TV is in these days, especially since no new programs are ever any good.

Mama's Family on ION is now beating MYNETWORK TV on some nights.

I wish they'd go back to showing some of those old hour-long shows in the daytime like they did when Pax first started. Remington Steele, Scarecrow & Mrs. King, etc.. would be great.

That's what I miss the most about PAX is that they showed great programs like Remington Steele, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Eight Is Enough, The Love Boat, The Big Valley, among other shows. Why couldn't ION start at Noon Central like PAX did and they can show a bunch of shows instead of filling them up with informercials, Pastor Gene Scott, ION Health, and QUBO(which is basically leftovers of Nickelodeon's programs)? There are plenty of shows from Sony and Warner Brothers to fill the whole day.

Maybe some original programing.
Yeah. Like something that isn't religious, an infomercial or (especially) a so-called "Reality" show unless of course it's something truly realistic such as COPS or even better Airline, (The latter being a show that once aired on the A&E cable network) as I can live with that.

That said though, the last thing we need IMO is another network airing COPS reruns.

Just my opinion :D

Cheers :D

Qubo is there for the E/I requirement which in my opinion needs to be repealed.

If I'm not mistaken, the E/I requirement applies to all subchannels, so having qubo on X.2 doesn't satisfy the E/I requirement on X.1 or on any other X.n subchannel. Each subchannel must air a minimum of 3 hours core programming per week.

The E/I requirement isn't exactly what I'd call onerous. 3 hours out of 168 - how hard is that to satisfy?

Hartford: WHPX TV 26/DTV 34.

34.1 is the main Channel 26 signal including the ION Programming. Qubo airs 3 hours every Friday on ION from 3PM-6PM Eastern.

34.2 is QUBO 24/7. The Qubo programming that airs Monday-Friday 3PM-6PM differs from the QUBO programming that airs on ION.

QUBO 24/7 also airs different programming than when QUBO is on NBC Saturday Mornings 10AM-1PM.

Weekend (or weekday primetime) sports. CSTV once partnered with PAX/i/Ion before for a package of Saturday night college football games, why not do so again? There's plenty of college football and basketball games that could be 'shared', as long as CBS/CSTV got its cut of ad money.

EDIT: If Ion really has increased its viewership with its "Free TV Land" schedule, then I say leave the sports on the weekends.

It's a little more flexible than that -- they are free to lump the E/I required programming onto one of the subchannels to cover the requirement for all subchannels. However, they can't meet the E/I requirement for their main channel with programming that runs on a subchannel.

So, for an Ion station that is running a main channel and 3-subchannels, it could work as follows (using the channel numbering for Dallas/Fort Worth): Ion main channel on 68-1 meets it's 3 hour weekly E/I requirement with the Friday afternoon Qubo block. However, only one of the three subchannels (68-2, 68-3, and 68-4) would have to carry any E/I programming, as long as that subchannel carried a minimum of 9 hours of E/I programming. Since 68-2 is Qubo 24/7, that requirement is easily met, eliminating the need for any E/I programming on 68-3 (Ion Life) and 68-4 (Worship).

Kill the informericals, or at least scale them back to early mornings and overnights.
