What stations didn't air the EAS test

Were you listening over the air or on a web stream? I was listing to WBZ-AM and the top of the hour news cast went on as normal - never heard an EAS activation. Then suddenly Laurie Kirby announced that we had just heard national emergency alert test.

I guess the EAS is down stream of the streaming box and only interrupts the air signal?

Actually a lot of reports via Twitter that this test didn't go so well. Lot's of stations didn't air, bad audio, etc.

Another station "missing the boat" was Providence market brokered rimshotter 1320-WARL. Yet another station not to listen to when the world comes crashing down around our feet. ;D

my DE1125 has about 25 pirates in memory
not a single one carired it
of 3 college stations in memory, only 1 carried it
(WMBR)
audio was muffled/broken and mixed in with ~3khz bpf'd delayed copies
that sounded as if played off shredding reel2reel tapes

At 2:00 PM I DID hear the test on WBZ/1030 Boston, WNRC-LP/97.5 Dudley, MA (on-line), WXRB-FM/95.1 Dudley, MA (on-line), WSHL-FM/91.3 Easton, MA, WBIM-FM/91.5 Bridgewater, MA, WSRS/96.1 Worcester, MA and WORC-FM/98.9 Webster, MA . It obviously worked! WHEW!!

I was tuning across the band as fast as I could. Many stations had dead air or absolutely horrid audio. They were joking about it on 98.5 afterwards saying how they couldn't understand one word.

I was driving my car out of a self serve car wash and had WRKO on. Horrid audio indeed, including talking and test tones going on at the same time. WEEI (AM)--same thing. WBZ (AM) May have just
missed it. WBZ-FM: Dead air then "OK we're back"

Pirates of course wouldn't have carried it,and I'm sure those pirates who sell advertising do not
report their income to the IRS, either :)

Once we've gotten over our momentary giggle and chuckle over this....the cold hard reality sets in that our nation is so far from being truly prepared for a bona-fide EMERGENCY....that it's really frightening.

Just to clarify - I was listing to the WBZ-AM stream and there was no EAS heard - just the news as normal. From the above it sounds like it was heard on 1030AM.

I guess the EAS only interrupted the over the air audio and the anchors kept going with the news even though it didn't make it over the air - only to the stream.

Wonder what the HD signal and WBZ-FM HD3 aired.

Sirius XM failed to air it on at least 20 active channels. Check the Sirius XM Facebook page for a running tally, and amusing anti-government comments from the tea bagheads. I didn't check the idle sports play-by-play channels (which run recorded schedule information and talk-show highlights when no game is on), so there might have been even more.

I was driving in Andover, heard it on WBZ AM, Kiss 108 (18 seconds later), WMJX, WVBF, WXLO, WFNQ, WBMX, WKLB, WZLX, WAAF, then dropped down and heard it on WZBC .

The actual alert was very trippy, sounded like stations were taking a feed from each other causing a loop - probably an 18 second loop.

It obviously worked on the stations you listened to. However, from reading some broadcasting remailers and boards, it's evident that substantial sections of the country had multiple problems with this test, including not receiving it at all.

It actually sounded like a far more basic problem, one that anyone who's ever worked in radio would recognize instantly: unmuted speakers too close to the live microphone.

not sure how this could work but what if BZ AM was monitoring BZ FM and BZ FM was monitoring BZ AM?

the endec should ignore all but the source that triggered the alert but stranger things have happened.

I guess all of new England had issues? We never got the signal, WUNH and when I contacted our upstream they said they are looking into it and that there were issues in the area.

A lot of stations stream their program feed not the on air feed... this is big with news / talkers expecially as they have to black out sports games on their web streams with alternative programming so they will feed the web encoder with a PGM feed and not a on air feed.

I'm curious, when did the word issues replace problems? I want to barf everytime I hear this new distortion of the vernacular....is everyone slipping down
to the level of those appearing on Judge Judy. The favorite excuse...my girlfriend who has had 4 babies by 4 different men has "issues"
Just makes my skin crawl!!!

At least on their stream, Kool 101 in New London didn't do the EAS at 2 PM. Yet at the same time, I was listening to their sister classic rock station out of Lancaster, PA on their stream and they did it during a Jimi Hendrix song.
