What stations have live jocks after midnight?

DRC-FM seems to be live when Josh Brown is doing overnights. I think Dave Nagel is voicetracked, though. Both claim to be playing requests, but that may be a "work," as they say on the pro wrestling boards ...

You can take PLR off that list
]

are you sure about that? Jessie gives out the studio number alot during the night, so i just assumed that he was live.

If thats not the case, that just tells me that he considers the listeners too dumb to figure it out when the
phone keeps ringing

I highly doubt he is live overnight and then producers the morning show...if he is still is doing that...

Jesse's not live.. trust me- there is nobody there after 12

and what brings you to this conclusion? is it the generic "a couple minutes after the hour" during his breaks, or is it the wildly fluctuating weather forcasts?
When your driving home in white out conditions due to a freak snow squall, and Jessie predicts clear overnight skies and gives a temp in the mid 40's, you just have to shake your head.
Seeing how most voice tracked shows are recorded many hours earlier, it might be wise for the jock to steer clear of weather, or at least anything too precise

I think Cox may also have all of thier night shows voice tracked

Heck, I've heard outside of morning and afternoon drive, Cox's Star 99.9 is voicetracked the majority of the day and all weekend, too. I hear the automation blow up on a weekend and wished I had a tape machine handy to record the mess! I also believe PLR and YBC also VT the same amount of time as well.

Oh people, why do some of you feel the need to guess or make assumptions when you have absolutely NO CLUE as to what's happening? Is it the need to feel important? It's ok, not to know...Either an overnight shift is voice tracked or it's not..Voice tracking is to the point now where most folks can't tell if it's live or v.t. That's the whole point. If the v.t. jock is stupid enough to give clues as to the fact he's not really there, well that's his dumb ass problem . Makes him/her sound silly. PLR overnights=voicetracked. PLR nights=Live. Mike Prodoti is in fact live, even if he sounds like a shell of his former self. That's no slight towards him, moreso towards Cox whose taken a real "personality" and performed the equivalent of a "personality vasectomy".(should I have gone with "personality neutering" instead?). Let me ask the masses this. Do you really care if you're favorite station is voicetracked night or overnights? Why?

Well considering I did 3 years on-air in CT and only 10 months in GA...and most of my closest friends work in CT radio...and technically I am a CT resident...I feel pretty comfy posting here...and I will be back.

Not familiar w/Sand Gnats...not allowed to talk about em on-air...big no-no.

WCBS 880 AM voice tracks their weather forecasts a majority of the time. Just in the last week listening they had the wrong forecast out more than once because of pre-recorded voice, predicting sun and not t-storms. this compares to 1010winsAM mind you owned by the same company which has a live forecaster 24/7.

voicetracking should be banned for any station that bills more than a certain amount.
I can understand Lp's and college stations with voice tracking because they don't make enough money but for major stations who can easilly afford the dj's its a joke.
Just for reasons like this...

Lawsuit anyone for a "bad forecast?"

Can you really sue for a "bad forecast"? I didn't expect this tread to turn into name calling and trash talking. I just wanted to know who I could call for requests when I'm on third shift.

I guess that can be countered with "Do you really expect the radio weather forcast to be right in the first place?"

Back on topic, how 'bout stations in the Danbury market? Are they VT'ed as well? I don't recall seeing any automation gear up at 98Q, but the last time I was in the studios was quite a few years back. I'd also bet the AM's are all sat-automated anyways.

WLAD 800 AM has a live morning show until 9AM. Then they have syndicated talk including Dr. Joy and Dr. Laura. They also carry The Yankees, The Giants, and The Huskies? I'm not sure what else they have as they don't have a program schedule (or anything else for that matter) on their website.

WREF 850 AM AFAIK runs Scott Shannon's True Oldies Channel from Sunrise to Sunset.

You're quite correct on this one. I had engineered WREF back in the 80's and I was quite surprised as I didn't keep track of it after the first sale. I was invited up to 98Q as a guest for a New Year's Eve party and to visit Hank & Jim over on WLAD. I was totally unaware that WREF has been purchased by Berkshire Broadcasting. Imagine my shock when I commented to someone "Why is there a WREF bumper stciker on this closet door?" as I begain to take a peek inside. Behind the door was a tiny studio, with just enough gear to run the audio from the bird as well as accomodate news and perhaps a network failure. The whole station was in a room the size of an oversized coat closet.
