After dropping two programs from Air America Radio (Al Franken and Randi Rhodes) with some fanfare, Inner City Broadcasting's WHAT has quietly picked up one (of three) national talk shows from Radio One (produced in joint venture with host Tom Joyner). The Michael Eric Dyson program airs live 10am to 1pm from Detroit:
The show streams online. Registration is required. I've listen to Dyson and I was very impressed with him.So far, WHAT has not picked up Radio One's more publicized offering, The Al Sharpton Show (1 pm to 4 pm), or a PM drive sports talk show from Atlanta, 2 Live Stews. Both are available on the same audio stream.WHAT supposedly dropped Air America Radio due to low ratings with a mix of Black-targeted programs and progressive talk programs. However, currently WHAT's numbers are about where they were with AAR in the afternoon. Inner City Broadcasting also owns WLIB, New York, which is currently leased by Air America, although reportedly AAR may lose their lease on the station the end of August.Dyson is a professor, an accomplished author and an ordained Baptist minister. He’s hosting ‘Building Bridges with Micheal Eric Dyson’, a three hour show that is setting out to offer a forum on timely news issues, the arts, entertainment, religion, gender and other hot issues. Dyson is inviting guests from all sides of the issues to discuss, analyze and offer opinion on a wide range of pressing issues.http://www.dysontalk.net/
