What the deal with WBAW 99.1 in Barnwell?

What the deal with WBAW 99.1 in Barnwell? ???

Will the move to Pembroke, GA ever happen? Any one know?

WBAW-FM 99.1 MHz
Barnwell, South Carolina
"99.1/99.3 Construction Permit"

They are silent per an STA in February, pending construction of the Pembroke/Savannah facility, which supposedly should be on-air in August.

So that move is on afterall? I thought it had been tabled indefinately.

I wonder who will be targeted with this signal? Statesboro? Savannah?

G

Savannah in all but name.

There is a backfill allocation on 99.1 Barnwell, which was petitioned to be reserved as NCE. The Commission granted that petition and took NCE applicants. I thought I saw that the Catholic Church parish in Barnwell had been granted the CP, but I cannot relocate that information.

I saw that too, I was asked about applying for the the 25KW signal on 99.1 to give my station better range but I didn't think that a 25KW noncommerical signal could survive the electric bill cost in this rural area, too much wattage for a noncom in a rural area population wise.

We thought about applying, but it could not be moved close enough to Columbia in a one-step process. It would have been build in Barnwell, be on the air, then apply for a Minor Change with different COL. Far too expensive and time consuming for what would always be a rimshot.
