What the heck happened to this market? A major move takes place for Samantha Layne from the Hawk to B101 and the most popular topic to chat about is who is next in line to handle a two hour shift on an am station most people in The Lehigh Valley don't even know exist? Bobby Koch? Sorry, never heard of the guy. He was on WEST? Sorry, don't know where that is on the dial. When people find out I work in radio they only ever ask me about 3 of the 5 local FMs and 1 of the AMs. Then the topic moves on to Philly stations. And if the person with whom I'm speaking is a LV transplant (moved here less than 10 years ago)? They usually can only identify 2 or 3 local FMs. If they listen to AM at all it's WABC or WPHT. The local stations don't provide much grist for discussion amongst most local non-radio types.

The market is just boring and blah. I've been in the market for 15 years and it has always been like this and will always continue.

people talk more about 250 watt AM stations because i hate to say, 250 watt Am stations are more interesting than LV FM stations. is anything going on exciting on WZZO? No. WCTO? No. WLEV? No. WAEB-FM? No. WODE? No, except for a change of morning hosts. Woo. WGPA is a silly station but at least they're interesting. btw, bobby koch is pretty popular in the valley. drive down 22 and his name is all over the electronic billboard at route 512. he dj's or at least used to at the bar with no name at the hotel there. from what i've heard he's good. he was a highlight on WGPA and WEST. i hope my prediction is right about him coming back. dumping ken matthews was dumb but koch would be the next best thing.
