What the heck is going on at DRC-FM?

I woke up to static when my alarm clock went off at 8AM This morning. I checked my other radio to confirm I had the right station and yes DRC-FM was off the air. This continued for over a half hour. I just check again. They had come back on. A song was playing. It ended Jerry made a joke about being off the air. He intro'd the traffic. Traffic lady began giving the report and the station went off the air again.

Edit: 8:48AM they came back on the air in the middle of a song. There's gotta be something wrong between Bloomfield and Meriden Mountain because The AM station has been on the entire time.

I Listen to WDRC FM alot and also have noticed that they have gone off air for several minutes at a time in the past and just now it went off for a few minutes on HD2.Does anyone know the story behind the off air events?

Had them on yesterday and the audio quality was aweful --- maybe studio - tower link problems? Sounded like an internet stream

I was listening yesterday when the audio quality changed. It dropped out completely for a minute or so, then came back muddy. In the car this morning, I heard what I thought was silence at 102.9 but I turned the volume way up and heard the Beatles' "In My Life" very faintly, out of the right speaker only. Very strange. Looks like some big technical problems at the Big D.

It's not just The Big D. I've been listening to Dr. Joy on their AM side since about 12:20PM and they're having problems with the automation computer. Dead air going into commercial breaks. Rejoining Dr. Joy in mid-sentence. Missing the AP Network News and legal ID at the top of the 1PM Hour. More Dead Air, joining the local news in mid-sentence. Cutting off the local news in mid-sentence. Liners running at the wrong time. Commercials running on top of the first minute or 2 of Dr. Joy's next hour.

Yeah they're still running the liners "You're Listening to Dr. Joy brown on The Talk of Connecticut WWCO AM 1240 and so are your potential customers. Call 860-243-1115 to advertise". Yeah business owners are gonna wanna advertise a business on a station with this many problems. ::)

Problem with the FM is a T1 data phone line issue - presently being worked on by Ma Bell.

Problem with the audio quality was missing bits. Unfortunately, when the problem is intermittent, it takes a while to troubleshoot these things on the phone company end. They've traced it to a fiber to copper interface in a manhole on Blue Hills Avenue.

And speaking of WDRC-FM, I heard the melodic strains of one Jerry Kristopher today at the Walmart store in Newington for their charity toy drive. It would've been funny to hear him say "...customer assistance needed in Site to Store!" or "...we need all available associates to the service desk for their returns! First one there gets to play JEEEERRRRRYYYY-ep-ardy!" :D
