What the heck is up with 990?

I agree with whoever said it earlier about the directional pattern.

if you were to drop, say 3 towers altogether and go to 10KW Day/1KW night from closer in.. you'd have a much better, useable signal............
 
But exactly how much better would the signal be? Twice as good? Three times as good? Would FCC approval be needed? Of course it would. Would it even be worth the hassle? I've got lots of questions.

Paul was agreeing with me when I mentioned a remark from the Chief Engineer of the then WEAN-990, Grady Moates, who once told me long ago when I worked there, that moving to North Providence, going to 4 towers with 10 kW in a cloverleaf pattern, would be equal or better than the present 50 kW 6 tower setup. Wonder if they could diplex with WRNI?
