what the hell is wrong with CRN

What the hell keeps happening every Sunday at WCRN? During the weekend programming no commercials are running, when the syndicated shows go to brake all you here is several minutes of dead air! Then at the top of each hour you get the joy of having CBS news run at the same time as all the spots that WCRN has., What is the point of having a program director if nothing runs right?

Now we have CRN running at a lower power, weekends that are total messed up, and the same 4 or 5 spots running all week (as that’s all they have left) What a shame! WCRN really was a great station! Now its such a joke! Nothing is going right over their….. Are we sure their not a pirate station? Most of the pirate stations around at least make less mistakes then WCRN!

How about afternoon drive during the week; they have that silly sounder “Info on the 8s” with the breaks from the Howie Carr Show rarely if ever coinciding with the 8s.

I’m afraid that PD Hank Stolz has lost interest with WCRN. He is even moonlighting on Charter’s channel 3 trying to get a new daily lifestyle show off and running.

As for the computer problems including the very unprofessional website; they need to bring back Mike Roberts. I think he was the computer guru/production guy who held the station together.

Dave I agree, after they let Mike go the station really has gone down. If I remember correctly Mike Roberts did just about everything at the station. He did the morning news, the web site (you know the one that worked) and if I am not mistaken he produced most of the weekend programming.
Upton bell was commenting on WCRN this morning, I guess the station was down some time in the 6 am hour and they played some sort of history of Abraham Lincoln for a very long time ….. OK now that we know the station has really lost it I feel its time to go back to oldies, the numbers were higher

Forget about WCRN. They're not even fun to laugh at anymore. They're just sad. Find something else to listen to and forget about them till they get sold or something and somebody who gives a sh*t and knows something about radio takes over. RIP WCRN.

Yeah, I agree too.. Mike did a great website and he really did do a good job with everything else, but as far as I know, he won't be coming back.

Tuesday evening they were broadcasting a B.C. game feed that must have been coming in on some sort of phone hybrid or demodulator that was set up improperly, and feeding back into itself. It was so distorted that it was unintelligible!!

Does anyone from the Boston home office ever tune in? Do they see how poorly their station is sounding? I wonder if their western MA station messes up as much as this one does.

My comments above about the weekend show were not a one time thing... This happens almost every weekend!

On another note I tuned in to WTAG for the first time this week… Jim Polito does a great job! I guess the “switch is on”..... back to TAG!

I don't think WACE 730 in Chicopee sounds as bad as WCRN, but it is for sale.. and has been for a year or two.

Does WACE have any meaningful coverage in Springfield?

Yeah, at 5KW, of course WACE has quite meaningful coverage in Springfield.. you can hear it north of Hartford as well.

What does it say about the state of the industry when a station that can be heard in 2 decent sized markets can't find a buyer?
Either the owners want far too much or more likely haven't had any offers. Anyone know what the asking is?
