What tower is this??

It's the tower in Seabrook, Tx, at Red Bluff and Kirby drive..

It's not KROI Seabrook, Tx, that's near Liverpool

I drive by it a lot and always wondered what it was.

According to the FCC tower database it belongs to KJIB a low power TV station on channel 5 licensed to Clear Lake. But the station has a construction permit to move to channel 29 from another tower site and boost power when it makes its move to digital.

That was, in fact, the first tower that 92.1 operated from when Roy first put it on the air. They have not transmitted from that tower in many years, though.

It was around 1990 that 92.1 got its first big upgrade from a Class A to a C2, which is when the transmitter was moved elsewhere (it is a C1 today.)

IIRC the old stick originally ran 1400 watts, later upped to 4500 when the Class A power limit was increased.
