Too bad there's no aircheck of KRLD on the site...

KLIF was a little slow off the mark on the JFK assassination, and from the book "When the News Went Live", one gets the impression that 1080 smoked
every other radio outlet in Big D that day.

In 1963 Ted Cassidy, Lurch on "The Addams Family,"
was a newscaster at WFAA radio, and I've read that
he interviewed two eyewitnesses to the assassination.
Does anyone know if a recording of the interview
still exists?

There is good documentary "JFK: Breaking the News" narrated by Jane Pauley that some PBS stations run each year on 11-22. It is more on the battle to cover the story between local Dallas tv stations and newspapers, but gives some good information on how local media covered the event, at a time when 'it wasn't news until you read it in the newspaper".

Wow. Never knew that. Cassidy was a most imposing figure in real life, standing about 6 feet 7. His real voice was deep and authoritative, and he was well spoken. I'm sure he got the answers to all the questions in his interviews......
