What was old is "Q" again!

Those of you who remember WKZQ Myrtle Beach when it was THE radio station on the Eastern Seaboard will be interested in this. A group of Q Crew members who worked at that KZQ have banded together to crank up an internet radio station like no other at QRockRadio.com. It debuted today at 10:00 am live from its studios at Broadway at the Beach facing Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. Similar to the Freakin' Deacon's broadcast studio at the Magic Attic in the 70s and 80s and very much like the KZQ broadcast booth on the Boulevard in the 80s, this is a station that ignores consultants and opens it's doors to those who are really important...that is, the listeners.

Sure, it might be a bit rough around the edges right now, but KZQ Alumni John Van Pelt, Bob Scarborough, Freakin' Deacon, Mixin' Dixon, Bob Chase and I, among others, are considering this an ongoing work in progress....with a killer business plan. Stay tuned. This is gonna be fun.

I just listened to The Freakin' Deacon on QRock for an hour... AWESOME!!!! And I love those jingles!

It's been a little more than a week since its debut, and the response to QRockRadio.com has been otherworldly. Listeners are signing up for the QRockRadio.com Facebook group in boatloads. Just implemented online prize registration a couple of days ago. Already the site has received a couple of favorable radio and internet radio site writeups. It's snowballing.

I wanted to add Banana Jack's name to the mix, because in my old age, I somehow forgot in my inaugural post to include him in the list of former Q Crew members who have made this endeavor what it is. Make no mistake, things would've never gotten this far without the vision and action of Bob Scarborough, John Van Pelt AND Banana Jack. These guys are the straws that drink, um, I mean, stir the drink.

Hell, log on and have a big heapin', helpin' of it yourself.

QRockRadio.com..Always Rockin'!
