New Host From Las Vegas (Updated)
They have a new local show with Jon-David Wells. A Google search says he was doing fill-in work on WMAL in Washington a few weeks ago. He did a show on talk station on a couple of different stations in Las Vegas and had a show syndicated by Talk America Radio Network (now Liberty Broadcasting/Lifestyle Talk Radio Network). DEL has not posted anything about him or his show on their website.
Wells has posted on the Nevada board as "jondavidvox." There are several threads about him on the Nevada board including (the most recent) one discussing his departure: j d wells awol from kdwn. fired again??.
From what I heard on the air, he does not build his show around a specific political viewpoint and he does not jump on his callers the way a lot of hosts do (including Rick Jensen). He's got a good voice but sounded maybe a little too slick at times. Not a lot of callers yet. We will have to wait and see whether WDEL's audience stuck around to check him out or has jumped with Rush. He is using his board op as sort of a sidekick (like Frasier and Roz) but could be he needs somebody to play off of temporarily until the call volume picks up. He sounds like somebody from a bigger market than Wilmington. Wonder how much he's getting; and wonder how likely he'll be to stick around?
PS: Wells may be a temp. I read some more his posts on the Nevada board. Last Friday he posted: "Further, next week, I'm booked at WDEL Wilmington, Delaware for a week of shows, taking over for the departing Rush Limbaugh." Stay tuned.
