What was Redwolf thinking?

Not their first odd decision but on wwrx they have a new girl during the day "cally". I really don't understand what they are looking for in this girl. She sounds odd and doesn't seem to be more than a liner jock. Shes got to be live for the amount of calls she plays. But just take a listen, tell me i'm not the only one.......

WWRX (Rhode Island) was EVEN BETTER when it was WERI...

I MISS "RI 104"

I think I have some "RI 104" tapes in storage.. I should dig them out sometime and post the airchecks.

I wonder what happened to Kidd David. He was doing middays before this "Cally" person and is now listed as "Swing/Fill-ins" on the Jammin Web site. And why is there a gap in the schedule? Miss L. is on from 9am to 12pm and Cally starts at 1pm.

You are wrong. This girl cally is great for her age. Her bio says it's her first fulltime radio job, pretty damn good if you ask me. She puts callers on and is friendly if you call in. As far as a liner jock goes, I believe she sticks to whatever she must be told to say. I think its a good move, the old guy was voicetracked, she is live her whole shift. Nothing like brining a young girl into a top 40 station, she probably knows more about that music than anyone else thats onair there. Radio stations are all about targeting to young women, puts Cally in that prime age group. Jammin and Q105 both sound good, both improved with their mix shows.

Kidd David was let go because they wanted to have a live jock on in the afternoon. From 12 to 1 the have the back in the day buffet mix show by Chum The Skrilla Gorilla.

Holy crap, they let Kidd David go AGAIN? John Fuller fired him from PM drive like 2 years ago because he had the music turned up too loud (Fuller's office is right next to the Jammin' on-air studio). They brought in Master Jay who eventually left and is now back doing nights after Lisa Evans left. The only consistency with that station is Brian Ram!

Why couldn't they just ask Kidd to come in and do his show live??

Kidd David has a full time gig with ESPN. I know all about firings from John Fuller. I was the production guy there for 2 years and got "fired" 2 weeks ago. It was my first gig and I got some great experience. Can't wait for the next job.

JSB: I'm very sorry to hear that. You have to look on the bright side...at least you were able to get some great experience! Firings happen all of the time in radio. Don't let it get you down. Just work hard to get that next great gig.

Here are my questions for you, since you have inside knowledge: why did Master Jay leave his PM drive gig (which ended up going to Lisa Evans who did half-PM drive-half nights). And why did Lisa leave recently?? And why did Kidd David return to the station after that unceremonious firing if he had a FT gig at ESPN? And do you know who is going to become the next production director there??

Thanks!

Congrats JSB, you've now entered the general population of Eastern CT & Southern RI radio, having been fired by JF!

I'm ok, I'm fired up to get to the next job. David didn't get the ESPN gig till after he came back. Master Jay's contract was up and there were a couple of incidents that I won't say that caused Lisa's departure. Chum is doing the production work now. Thanks Radiodizzy, I would say it's an elite club but there are probably more of us than the 2 prisons in the area. LOL :D

The only consistency with that station is Brian Ram!

Brian is one of the hardest working guys I have met. This man wears many hats at that place. I have alot of respect for him.

Yo, Brokeback!

I heard about your departure. Hey, that only means you have room to be upwardly mobile now, eh?
Good luck. You're in good shape skill-wise and working under the conditions you did is easily worth 2 or 3 times the work value as experience. Only one comment otherwise, and it's one I think I've made more than a few hundred times; that PLACE is a living soap opera, a darker version of WKRP, and I have no doubt that a telling of a number of the really good strories that have come out of there would make a very entertaining movie about radio. I would like to suggest you get Leonardo DeCaprio to play the part of me.
Later!
