What was this station?

Back in 2002, when I first went to Nova Scotia with my dad, we were getting onto the Scotia Prince in Yarmouth, and I heard this rock station out of Moncton,NB that played classic rock. It was around 94.1-94.5 on the dial. The signal must have been out of its range, or we were on the fringes of it, because it kept fading.

Could have been an Ad for Moncton
they have a few repeaters.

Not in New Brunswick they don't. In any case, it's roughly 1,100km (about 650 miles) from Yarmouth to the CHOZ 94.7 transmitter in St. John's. New York City is (a lot) closer.

(I wonder if you're confusing St. John's -- the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador -- with Saint John, a major city in New Brunswick and not all that far from Moncton?)

I'm going to guess AckDX was hearing CKCW-FM 94.5, which is licensed to Moncton. It's on the same tower as News 91.9 and the four CBC transmitters (88.5/95.5/98.3/106.1) but it's only 19 kilowatts, against about 70 for the rest of the stations.
