What was Triv's big news on Tuesday?

He "tweeted" yesterday that he would have some sort of fabulous, life changing announcement today. I dont listen to him, but I was curious what the announcement was. Anyone know?

He's moving to 9 AM-1 PM to take on Tony "Hairpiece" Rizzo?

:D

(I didn't hear it, either, Triv's big announcements tend to be duds for those of us expecting a big deal.)

For what it's worth, management prevented Triv from making that announcement yesterday. Supposedly it's set for this afternoon... we shall see.

I'd laugh if it's to announce that Premiere Radio is severing their contract with WKNR and is moving Jim Rome over to WMMS. Either that, or the Vegas show. Still, it's being executed better that WKNR's "major announcement" was... :D

Believe it or not, Triv revealed (at 5:40PM Wednesday) that he is considering a Presidential run - for the Libertarian Party nomination.

I kid you not.

At this point, it's only a consideration (which is why management kept him from making the announcement the day before). Of course if he actually DOES such a thing, he would be forced to give up his WTAM gig for the entire duration of his campaign.

And he's not the only radio host to contemplate a presidential run - WSB-AM/FM Atlanta host (and occasional Hannity fill-in) Herman Cain recently announced that he would run for the Republican Party nomination, and is now taking a hiatus from his WSB show.

To paraphrase a Triv saying, Cain "is like a heart attack... he's serious."

This has to be an extended stunt. Triv is not going to leave the WTAM airwaves to run for president, as a Libertarian or any other party.

And if for some reason I'm wrong, he'll drop out quickly for the same reason Howard Stern did...the disclosure of income that would be required.

Maybe he heard about Herman Cain and thought it'd be a good gag.

Triv's first State of the Union speech:

"All of yous in Congress---Ya better does what I tells ya, or I'll have to send my Secretary of Defense Vinny Antipasti after all of yous!"

Seriously...couldn't you see a cabinet of Gohman, Seth, and Jennifer?

Why do I have a feeling that, if he does decide to follow through with a nomination bid, he will tell listeners, "I've decided to take my talents to the people, and run for President." :D

Go back and listen to Stern's show when he ran for Governer of NY. Im sure the schtick was done much better, and funnier, by him the first time around.

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring, Triv. Been there, done that. He really is out of ideas for his crappy show at this point. Sad.

Thats a big 10-4 good buddy.

I was thinking the other day about these " big announcements". You must admit that this gimmick has been watered down, no, drowned actually, thanks to the brilliant minds at WKNR.

Tease, promote, listen. 2 involve the radio, 1 involves the listener. Does the guy who turns on WTAM on the drive home to hear traffic, weather and some news, really make a point to make an " appointment" to listen to the announcer later when he has a " big announcement" ?

I believe people are much more media savvy these days, then say 10, 15 years ago.( Like in the time when Stern ran for office referenced above .) I believe when they hear these " tune in for a big announcement " promos they treat them in their minds as " a commercial is coming " rather than an important bit of information.
My belief is they really don't think there is anything for their benefit coming in the " big announcement ". We discuss these events on this board, but does the Joe average listener put any credence in these teases to listen?

What? Oh, brother. How many years is the radio industry going to keep staging these tired, worn out publicity stunts. Right out of the 1980s. Pathetic. Truly pathetic.

Gary Dee would have pulled off such a stunt with 1000% more panache and hilarity, no?

This stunt by Triv almost makes me think that he's preparing to leave if CC might still request another pay cut... and as neither Gohmann, Seth the Barbarian nor Jennifer command the salaries that Rado or Marty had... (Think about it: by "running for President," he would be able to "take an extended leave" and create a thinly veiled escape without actually being fired. Then again, that's the cynical side of me.)
