What we need in Boston is more Pirate Stations not less!!!!!

OK-so Pirates make heir living stealing something of another person; in this case it is their territory/income. In return THEY get a piece of the pie they were not otherwise entitled to. How would that pirate (thief) like it if someone went up to their ride and hacked off the front bumper with the logic, "just takin my share, man." Maybe the NEXT thief would take the wheels/tires, then the stereo etc.
IF the pirate was true to himself (or herself) the response would be "cool, just take what U need and leave the rest."
Right!

Wake up from your bad dream. Radio ( pirates) dont steal cars. Act of 96 stole the local Ownership and Black radio ownership ( over 10 thousand Commercial Radio stations in America, Only 168 are Black Owned, Half of 168 is owned by " Clarence Thamas Radio One". R.I.P. Blue Chip and Nash ) Today Radio, is "The O Big Boys Only Club". Some day You " Company men " will get it, When these Big Radio Owners will tell you, "Go Take a hike ( Your job is history, Goodbye ! ) ! On air local talent is yesterday news .

Actually you are wrong... Atlanta is 40% local, Phoenix is 39% local, Minneapolis is 42% local, Fargo, ND is 51% locally originated programming.

BTW - Clarence at Radio One wants to talk to you. Call him at your earliest convience. I think you will be suprized.

The only way I could accept FM piracy in a market as full as Boston is if they get down to 87.7 or below.
I don't know if you have a TV 6 or not, but even if you do, anyone wanting to be on FM should somehow
be off the FM band . Any of the old TV audio radios would work. Yes, I know your market is hugely reduced...
Tell your friends to pass the word if they want to hear the pirate, they need a new radio, just like HD.

Even then there is no excuse for spurs or bad operation.

Why not get several 100 mw AMs and put together a few computers linked over the internet to feed them?
There must be a smidgen of AM bw not being used there....

Tom.. not a bad Idea...

The am band is being vacated at an average rate of 3 stations per year/state.

With only 1 returning in the same.

100mw or even 500mw would cover a small city (25 sq miles)

Down from almost 100% local .

rap-[EDIT],

If you have a proven way to roll back the clock and maintain profits... I'm more than certain that you will have this board's attention. :)

Is there any reason you keep calling Radio One "Clarence Thomas Radio One"?
Radio One The Urban Specialist AKA Buy great Urban stations, and then Trash The Urban stations.
Clarence Thamas AKA What can Affirmative Action do for me, and no one else ( Open the Door and closed the door behind me ).

We have a TV channel 6 (transmitting from) Rhode Island. It can't be viewed easily in most of the Boston area due to adjacent channel blanketing from our local channel 5, but the channel 6 audio can be heard on radios here.

That will probably change next February when TV transitions to all-digital. A number of the stations with their analogs still currently on VHF will end up digital-only on UHF frequencies, so some of those 87.7 frequencies will most likely be vacated.

"LPFM auction?"

Last I checked, there was an application window in the future possible, not an "auction" of LPFM nor had any dates been announced.

in boston, 94.1 is where its at. its not from boston, but it comes in clear.

The deregulation act had nothing to do with "stealing" black stations away. It gave big companies the opportunity to buy stations from operators of all colors. Your beef should be with the "Uncle Tom's" who cashed in when they had the chance.

Regardless...I stand by my assessment that rapking is either:

Guess what rapking? That's not a locally-owned station. You're killing your own half-a**ed argument here.

I know that ( Clear Channel not a local owner ). WHJY is one of a very few good stations, owned by Big Radio companies.

Here a start, Kept everything local from 6 am to 12 Midnight weekdays( or 24 hours ). I like Ch 25 commercial ( You get your news from New York, come on Boston, You know better than that ) on NBC,ABC,and CBS Morning news shows.

RapXXXX

I havw an Idea...

Send a letter to EVERY Democrat in congress.. Telling them your issue and donate bus change to every single one of their campaigns. with your gripe and just maybe you might get an act of congress to do affirmative action...or donate to you a Class D5 license. It will help to also have a few fair time and localism organizations in your back pocket...

Because this board can't stand free loaders. ;D
