So Don Day is retiring again? That completes the wipe out of the ol guard at WLWI...Don Day, Darlene Dixon, and J.R...all gone in a years time if what your saying is true.
______________

They will be missed greatly by the Montgomery radio listening audience...for about 30 seconds.

NEXT!

People listen for the music and an occasional quip by a sometimes funny air talent.

Real personality radio left the building a long time ago.

Need proof? Go to a remote broadcast with your high priced talent and see the legions of dedicated fanatical listeners rush up for an autograph.

They are usually the same people who show up at every remote broadcast for the free t-shirts and free food.

Wake up America! as Red Neckerson or some character used to say.

This is different with WLWI. Don Day has been there pretty close to 30 years, Darlene was 15 years and J.R. was around 10 years. Not your normal station where every one switches out every other year. Probably hard for someone to understand that doesn't live in Montgomery.

I'M GONNA CALL BULLSHIT ON THIS

I'LL TELL YOU WHAT IT MIGHT BE. BLUEWATER HAS PROLLY OME UP WITH SO MUCH $$$-- THERE WILL BE NO WAY FOR CUMULUS TO MATCH IT--

I BET HE ( DON DAY ) TAKES THE SUMMER OFF-- AND IS ON BAMA COUNTRY BY FALL--

I HAVE NO OTHER RATIONALE TO THINK THIS OTHER THAN:

#1- TERRY BARBER HAS BEEN KNOWN TO PAY FOLKS ( I KNOW THIS FIRSTHAND )

AND -- IN BLUEWATER'S EYES-- DON DAY IS THE ONLY ELEMENT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE ON BAMA COUNTRY--

SAY WHAT YOU WANT-- YOU ARE RIGHT-- REAL RADIO PERSOANLITIES WENT OUT WITH PANAMA JACK T-SHIRTS--

BUT THERE ARE 1 OR 2 LEFT-- DON IS THE BIGGEST-- AND I BET HE IS ABOUT TO GET HIS PAYDAY. ( HE HAS EARNED IT )

#2-- TERRY HATES CUMULUS - AND HE IS A FORMER CLEAR CHANNEL GUY WHO SAW "UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL" THE DEVISTATION TO WZZK/BHAM-- THAT WAS BROUGHT ON BY DIXIE 102 GETTING PATTY AND DOLLAR BILL--

TRUST ME Y'ALL-- I GOT A FEELING, ARE YOU FEELING IT TOO?

#3- THIS COULD ALL BE A RUSE BY SOME RADIO PEOPLE TRYING TO START STUFF-- LOOK HOW GOOD ITS WORKING !

OK-- I AM OFF TO THE WAY, WAY PRIVATE SECTOR-- IF YOU ARE IN DOTHAN, MERIDAN OR JACKSON TONIGHT-- CHECK ME OUT--

It was Earl Pitts. One of Gary Burbank's alter egos. If you you don't know who Gary Burbank is then you shouldn't be on this board.

As for people listening for music, ask yourself this. When was the last time someone came in to work and said, "Wow, did you hear that great song on the radio this morning?". There are a lot of great personalities out there. Because you are not one, don't make a mass indictment on the rest.

Don't strain so much with that thinking! Its too early for all that!

What you have presented is an excellent theory though...would it be Don Day and Debbie in the morning on Bama Country 98.9? I bet he doesn't have a non-compete. This could actually be really bad for WLWI. This would make for their first real competition.

What do you do then at WLWI? Susan I would think would be the best fit for middays, but that still leaves openings in mornings and evenings. John, could be a job opening for you...voice track the evenins at WLWI. They could even move Dr.Sam over from Mix 103 to mornings on WLWI with Andi and then do a sattelite morning show on Mix.

Whatever Don Day decides to do, I wish him the best. I've never met a classier guy in 30 years in this business. If he does by chance come on over to Bama Country, I'll be there every morning to hold the door open for him.

Hound Dog...what is to become of Kandi? Or I guess she can answer for herself...she has been known to be around this board occasionally.

Sorry about replying to my own message...I just got a call and was told that there are actually two more impending departures from WLWI. That will leave one person on the air staff with more than 1 year under their belt left.

Are you sure? I thought that was not official yet. Please share if it's true.

Kandy is gonna be just fine. She has her place on the morning show and i don't know of anyone who could do what she does as well as she does it.

Why yes, she can. Don't forget that I'm the Business Manager here at Bluewater. I love being on the air and, I have faced numerous challenges that I don't often find in business management. I do, however respect and admire Don Day, and I think Debbie is great. What ever they decide to do here at Bama Country is fine, because we upstairs, have what is the best interest of the company at heart.

Yes, well, I have no problem in people believing my on air persona. All you need is about 5 minutes with me in person to relize that I'm the same person on the air as I am off the air (john, you know this is true). Okay, so I don't often get a chance on air to show that I'm somewhat intelligent, but that's okay too. As far as how I look, I ask you the same question I posed yesterday, what do you want? And the kick ass part is probably more true now that you've gotten so scrawny.
______________
