What were you watching when.....?

Somebody wrote an expose about the Danny Thomas set, and the troubles there - I think it was Jean Hagen, who played Danny's wife first - before Marjorie Lord. Whoever it was indicated that Hamer was an obnoxiously, spoiled, entitled brat - and very difficult to work with. I suspect he had greedy handlers (his parents perhaps) who were responsible for his behavior. It's not surprising his career cratered after MRFD.

A few years ago, Sherry Jackson (who played the daughter on the show--until leaving after 5+ seasons) basically confirmed that Rusty Hamer was allowed to get away with murder on the set because he was a cute kid, etc. When he was no longer that cute kid, he got a pretty heavy dose of reality. She also told the story about how Hagen hated Thomas (one reason why she left after the first three seasons) and on one occasion, Jackson grumbled to her about something that Thomas did and she responded, "You don't have it bad, I have to kiss him!"

Not surprised !!! It was reported shortly after his death that Rusty post-Danny Thomas never had a job that paid 10K a year !! At the time of Rusty's suicide his death overshadowed another one....Dickie Goodman !! The so-called king of the break in records. Dickie's son had this bad habit of going on talk shows a few years later to discuss his dad's suicide and he was quite graphic at that. I didn't know Dickie Goodman had died that is until a few years later when I was driving home late one night and picked up Dr. Demento of all things on the radio but the doctor didn't go on about how Dickie had died just that he was dead.

I question the priorities of the major networks (the "big three") with regard to breaking into normal programming to cover O.J. Simpson. There are enough cable news channels, and enough websites streaming the coverage, that breaking into normal everyday network programming should have been unnecessary.

That said, here in Nashville, it was noon when the "breaking news" of O.J. happened, and channel 4 incorporated it into their normal noon newscast. However, they in turn, broke into NBC news' network coverage to cover the verdicts in the Timothy Batts trial. (Not newsworthy nationwide, but certainly newsworthy here.) However, at 12:30, following the conclusion of the local news, they returned to NBC coverage of O.J.

....and the things Trump did NOT say makes news as well !! Did you know Donald Trump is going to make same sex marriage illegal again ?? All gay men and women will be rounded up and sent to straight camp, legal pot will become illegal again and everyone goes to jail and Muslim families will be required to be a Christian or risk being deported. Everyday online I see this stuff !! The straight camp thing I asked when did Trump say that on Facebook only to get the guy who posted it say "...well he didn't say that but I can read between the lines !!". In Colorado I am seeing bumper stickers that say "TRUMP ...HANDS OFF MY POT !!". It's crazy !!!

Or in some cases President Trump's cabinet member like Sarah Sanders, Kellyanne Conway's rants and talking points make breaking news at least on Cable Talk shows get labeled that way. However, none of the rants the Trump Cabinet says are final until Congress, the supreme court either endorses or rejects the Presidential cabinets policy. But then again cable news talk channels are airing this reality TV show mainly because its important for their target demos.

One problem with the media is that a large chunk of the public does not believe them and they rather believe some doofus in small town Iowa over CBS or FOX News instead. Maybe it's because of so many older newscasters are being replaced by younger ones in many parts of the country ?? Maybe it's because that some of those newscasters do commercials as well like here in Denver an anchor from say KMGH does an ad for a nightclub or Stephan Tubbs from KOA does an ad for some carpet cleaner, It also doesn't help that so many people don't have a clue as to what the president can or can not do and the same with congress as well. Result...too many folks are taking the words from that doofus seriously and not so much people who are actually in the media.

Some Parts of the country Glen Cambells death was a big Headline yesterday due to his popularity in music. But in other parts of the nation it was the alleged threat of North Korea attacking parts of the USA.

That's true. Many people on both sides of the political spectrum are spectacularly ignorant. There was an item the other day - interview with a Trump supporter who criticized Obama for being on vacation during 9/11, and not dealing with the crisis as a "real President" should. Even though he appeared to be a man in his late 40s, early 50s, he seemed to have forgotten that George W. Bush was President on 9/11/01. On the other side, you have liberals who think Trump can single-handedly make gay marriage illegal. Based on the SCOTUS decision, I believe it would take a constitutional amendment to do that now. And speaking of amendments, I saw an item yesterday with people accusing Congress of not enforcing the "28th Amendment." Well - there is no 28th amendment. It's a proposal, at this point - and probably won't get very far.

About pot, though - since marijuana is still illegal by federal law, the Trump Justice Dept., Drug Czar, and DEA could conceivably make it much more difficult for states that have legalized pot, and the people in those states that sell pot. Bust them, in other words, based on federal law.

But back to yesterdays news. North Korea supposedly is threatening the USA with a new missle and that was news. I seen Hawaii one of the states mentioned in the Hawaii news now report made it not as breaking news but a news segment due to speculation on both sides at this point and the state of Hawaii making preparations.

Yes, I agree on the ignorance part. The problem here is that the presidents cabinet and pentagon needs congressional approval and UN negotiations to approve a strike on North Korea if the rumors are true.

Well cable news focused on Trump and Pentagon and North Korea but the reality here congress and UN must approve the pre-emptive strike on NK. I just think that Cable News gets too caught up in the goose chase on the cabinet.

I doubt that there will be a pre-emptive strike from the USA.
We will respond to an attack from NK.
For that, the President does not need authority from Congress or from the UN.

Hopefully, President Trump will, for once, listen to his advisers and not go into his 'tweeting mode' with 'the button.'

Not true. As Commander in Chief the President of the US is authorized to respond to ANY situation that threatens US security. He needs Congressional authority to declare war (which has not actually happened since Pearl Harbor). And the UN has no actual authority over him whatsoever.

Most Presidents will seek UN and Congressional approval as a way to build consensus and support. But under the Constitution the President is completely authorized to launch a military attack if he feels one is warranted.

Hawaii Local news said the threats from North Korea is a precaution for now but Cable News went all insane from there Yesterday when I saw the news.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/aug/12/virginia-unite-the-right-rally-protest-violence

Well Yesterday's Virginia riots I saw this but it was mainly wall-to-wall on CBSN due to updated information over the deaths that took place during the riots and most notably when the Car killed the protesters in one video.

I saw some of the Charlottesviile riots on TV here in Denver, The biggest problem I had was that Charlottesville like Roanoke was when they had the WDBJ shootings was called "a suburb of Washington, DC". It reminds me of the movie "The Death of Ocean View Park" which was filmed in Norfolk and some lady tells Mike Connors from Mannix "...I guess I will get on my bike and go to DC for awhile and maybe Baltimore !! I will see you this afternoon.". Good luck with that !! You can't do that bu CAR !! I guess all of Virginia is a suburb of DC

Also now the Virginia Riots and Trump's handling of the situation was crazy. Well cable news has declared this the new Trump scandal of the day given how he rants in the press conference.
