What will be the next "Big Flip" in Dayton?

My guess is something is going to happen either to HOT 102.9 or Channel 945.
If I was a betting man, i'd say HOT 102.9 will morph into Z103, with the 'GTZ calls moving there and 102.9 becoming a full-blown CHR...Mainline can move Churban back to 92.1, where it should've never been moved from in the first place(U-92 was a ratings success until Radio One ruined poor Ronita Saunders and flipped the station to Urban AC).
As for Channel, the hot(No pun intended there)rumor is that it's being sold off soon. Also with that "wonderful", "upgraded" signal, there's no way that they'll ever be more than a rimshot signal. If 102.9 heads more CHR-ish, and pleases disgruntled former Z-93 listeners with that monster signal, Channel will be lying in the cemetary next to Z-93, make no mistake.

The "Z" brand was apparently one that could not be rescued and recovered. Given that, it is highly unlikely that it would be attached to a station that already has more than double the listening.

As for 94.5's supposedly poor signal, it stops my scan button about 75% of the time north of the Ronald Reagan/Cross County and about 95% of the time anywhere north of 275 (including the more eastern, not as far north areas like Symmes Township, Loveland, Mason, and so on. Can't be all that bad.

Wow, your radio must be really good. Now that WNKU added their 94.5 repeater in Port Union, I can't hear Channel at all. Occasionally my HD Radio reciever will briefly detect its HD signal but will only get so far as to display the call letters.

Something stops it. Maybe I haven't been paying attention.

Last night between Mason and Lebanon, though, it was definitely Dayton.

If Fly 92.9 intends to beat out Mix 107.7, WMMX can switch to R&B-fusioned Top 40 as "Wild 107.7" (WWLD.....Wild in Dayton) with a possible nod to heritage R&B grandfather WDAO-FM.

("Wild 93.9" WLWD-FM works in Lima.)

THAT would be interesting to watch...like David vs the CC Goliath.

(my apologies Jas...I stand corrected)

Sorry, Kirkie Fan...that one's doubtful.

CC won't concede Mix's position without a fight. A BIG fight.
I agree with Jason here. I can't wait to see the first Trend post-flip. CC is trying to act like Fly doesn't exist(Just read their Market Manager's comments from the Dayton Business Journal)...That is a BIG mistake. Also, has anyone else noticed that Fly is making sure music is playing when 'MMX is at commercial? Coincidence? I think not. 8)

Yes, Wild does extremely well in the ratings, but you must remember Lima did not have a Top 40 outlet in the last 4 years. That all aside, Wild does terrible with their income, the station is more in the red than in the black. Advertisers like the cume on any contemporary station, however if your not making any money, you cant afford to pay the electric bill.

Z is gone.
Period.
There are and have been quite a few successful CHRs with the "Hot" name, so don't be surprised if Hot 102-9 just morphs into some kind of CHR, still rhythmic. The frog analogy works here. If you throw a frog into boiling water, IE take Hot and just turn it into a CHR right away, the frog will jump out, or people will notice. If you just boil the frog slowly, IE change the sound over a period of say 6-12 months, not as many people will notice, and will go with the change. Also, the frog won't jump out. Haha!
That's my opinion.

I love the analogy and I feel your right on the money with this one! Not a straight CHR, but some form of Rhythmic CHR for sure!

Being in music during Mix's stopsets is a great idea...and something that used to happen routinely that doesn't seem to happen much anymore.

But keep in mind alans, that there can be a big difference between what is said publicy by the competition and what they really feel behind closed doors. That said, I don't think MMX should be overly concerned and have any knee-jerk reactions. MMX isn't really doing anything blatantly wrong, they just haven't had any competition. Now they do, and I'm sure they have to be at least mildly concerned. It should be fun to watch things unfold and hear what tweaks each will do.

Thanks Kentucky.
Now, how do you feel about this one!?
Something nobody's talking about. This will probably be the next major flip.
Cox will be selling/moving 95.7 to Sharonville at some point. This means they lose their FM symalcast of WHIO. Now, since 95.7 moved south, this should mean 95.3 can move just a bit farther north so it can hit the northern part of the Miami Valley well. What happens? 95.3 becomes WHIOFM. Fly 92.9 now doesn't have the Eagle to worry about and can really grab hold of those classic rock AC listeners, the ones that may not be necessarily a fan of the Bond Jovy's but also don't necessarily want Neil Daimond either IE mix or lite. More Steeve Miller, Etc.
Thoughts?

I agree...I could easily see this scenario playing out the most. WHIO wants to dominate the news/talk scene along with their major assets WHIO-TV and ofcourse the ever rewarding DDN and Springfield paper.

Cox makes a good amount of money on Eagle, however the national buys just dont stand there. So my opinion on what Cox could do with all this....1270/95.3 WHIO and 99.1 WHKO. By selling 95.7 down the river (so to speak) it would help eliminate the amount of loss Cox is in.

Wild 93-9 does better financially?
Explain.....95.3 may flip to talk, but they wont being moving there tranmitter anywhere north.
You have WKTN to content with.

I remember seeing a proposed transmitter location for 95.3 after any 95.7 move to Sharonville; and that location was in Beavercreek. I do not recall any modified ERP for 95.3
