What will be the next station to be flipped?

As soon as the Cowboys' season is over, CBS will flip The Fan. Too much money and too low ratings wasted on that big signal. With thier new partnership with Cumulus, CBS will be content with The Ticket being thier new network's affiliate.

Not likely... this has been mentioned here before: Bruce Gilbert (former big cheese at the little ticket) is now the big cheese at the fan. The guys still at the ticket liked working for him (and they will again). They (the fan) are just waiting for the current contracts of the Cumulus air staff to expire. You will then see the mass exodus of the ticket air staff to the fan... and all the ratings and ad revenue will go with them.

I wish something would happen... It's been dead in this market and on this board... :(

I don't think KRLD-FM will flip, but they will add some of the CBS Sports Radio programming. Let's have a little common sense here: Even though Cumulus/CBS are partners in the new sports radio network, Cumulus is not going to destroy their bonafied money maker(KTCK) to help a competing radio station(KRLD-FM). More than likely what may happen is that KTCK will take some overnight programming and KRLD-FM may take some weekday programming. We know that KTCK will take Ferrall, but we don't know if that bumps Dan Patrick or not. We won't know until January 1.

You are correct. The ticket is not moving to the fan. The air staff will move to the fan when their contracts expire. They have had more than enough of working at Cumulus.

Really? Ask Mark Davis what Cumulus does with air staff that has a large contract when it expires. Besides, I don't think Cumulus will have anything to say about it when the ticket's current air staff's contracts expire and none of them renew because they have all left.

Have you heard that from any of the KTCK talk show hosts?

Have you thought about that maybe Cumulus figured that his salary was not matching his sponsors or ratings?

Do we know when those contracts expire?

I can't imagine that CBS would place network programming on a big stick just to get destroyed, as they have, by The Ticket. And remember they are also losing to KESN as well. CBS & Cumulus are in bed together with sports talk and there are rumors that sports talk is just the beginning of the partnership. What may happen is a signal swap and The Ticket moves to 105.3 and CBS puts the network on 1310. It's a different sonario, but all other markets where they have multiple sports signals (ex. WIP AM & FM in Philly) local gets the stronger signal, so CBS recognizes the value of local over network. The Ticket is Cumulus' flagship sports talk and the staff would justifiably be insulted and definetly leave as soon as possible if they remain on a crappy AM signal as a CBS affiliate and the network (part or full time) is broadcasting on a flame throwing FM signal. So I see 1 of these 3 happening:

a. flipping to a music format (take your pick) and The Ticket will be the sole network affiliate.
b. signal swap with The Ticket
c. signal swap with KRLD AM

And btw, as soon as it can happen, contractually, Dan Patrick's show will move to NBC's new sports radio network and simulcast on thier sports cable network as it currently it does on Fox Sports and Comcast cable networks.

The announcement of Scott Farrell's CBS network show being picked up by The Ticket is the writing on the wall. If The Fan was going part time network, the two automatic time slots for network programming would be morning drive and evenings. So CBS will pay a local host for a local show during a time of day when most people don't listen to sports talk instead of putting on Scott Farrell? Of course not. The only logical reason why CBS would allow Farrell to be on a so-called competitor and not thier own station is because The Fan will be going away.

You don't leave a .8 rated, third place finishing, part time network station on a 100k watt Cedar Hill signal. The bigger question is where will the Cowboys' game be heard next year?

Any chance of it going back to KLUV?

No that just means that either KRLD-FM passed on Ferrall or CBS Sports Network offered it to KTCK first and they jumped on it. With the pending announcement that Dan Patrick may jump ship to NBC Sports Radio, KTCK jumped on Ferrall. I still don't think KRLD-FM is going away. It may be enhanced by CBS Sports Radio. Who knows? We will know come January.

Like I said earlier, CBS is going to make KRLD FM work. They are doing FM sports on most of their stations in big markets. Chicago wil lbe the next to get an FM sports station. They have 2 possiblities up there for FM Sports. I would not look for CBS to flip any of theri stations right now. If there is any flipping that needs to be done it will be Clear Channel. 97.1 "The Eagle" is awful!! and needs to be blown up. Advertisers are not going to support that format. Russ Martin could not even bring the ratings up even moving him to afternoons. As funny as Russ can be, I think his act is over.
