What will Bob Jordan do at KIRO?

New N.D. at KIRO-TV, Bob Jordan is known for shaking things up. He has already dropped Rebecca Stevenson. What is next? KIRO has been doing OK in the ratings recently, so does he just maintain, or re-image?

IMO, the set and graphics need a new look, and as much as Steve Raible is likeable, I wonder what his future is. I would expect to see some moderate changes either as early as next week, or at the latest, February 2013. Thoughts?

KIRO needs a lot of help. They've been using the same set for over a decade. The graphics haven't changed much, either. I'm not sure if Raible will keep on kicking, but he has no chemistry with Angela Russell. Monique Ming Laven, the weekend anchor, is much better with Raible.

He's hired a male co-anchor for the morning news (replacing Chris Egert who left over six months ago). Francavilla should be safe, Jordan was the one who hired her for KING. He has the smallest anchor team in town, which means there isn't much talent on the bench when someone calls off sick or goes on vacation. He's reporters are pretty good, though he did let one of my favorites, 23 year veteran Stacy Sakamoto go.

He has no sports department, with Chris Francis doing sports on weekend newscast but no sports guys on weekdays. I thought this was strange move when KIRO got rid of weekday sports reports about six or seven years ago, and I still think its weird.

Good points, especially on your sports comments, as KIRO does occasionally get a Seahawk game. However, sports on local news has been decreasing all over the country. And then there is the Raible-Hawks connection. But I digress.

I would venture that changes to the KIRO-TV news imaging are about 80-20 odds. Should be interesting.

To me Chris Egert seem to always have a "smug" smile on his face like he was 'bad ass'. didn't care for him too much

I'd bet that Raible and Francavilla are gone by the end of the year. They've also told chopper pilot Clark Stahl he's gone, along with veteran floor director/lighting director Tony Garaccio. Count on more of a sports presence as well. A lot of nervous people over there.

I really think Jordan will make some major changes, as he did back in the 80's with KING. Back then, he took a complacent station to a new energy. I have no doubt he will do the same with 7. The "how" will be interesting to watch. Get ready for some fireworks.

You think Francavilla will be gone? I think she's the best female morning show anchor in the market (Joyce Taylor is insufferable) but she has to have a good co-anchor. She was excellent with Brad Goode and Gulstan Dart.

Clark Stahl has been with KIRO for 30 years. He was pretty unique in this market as the only pilot that did his own on-air reporting. He was best utilized covering breaking news during the evening newscast, but the previous news director had put him on traffic duty in the morning, which was pretty duplicitous with the Aussie in the studio.

A few more changes at KIRO:

The Sunday night 11PM news is now an hour long.

Longtime weeknight reporters Deborah Horne and Chris Legeros are now reporting on Sundays.

They've hired a new morning Meteorologist from Jordan's old station in Florida. I presume that Sam Argier will continue in prime time and Morgan Palmer moves back to weekends.

Makes sense to put veteran reporters on Sunday night, with a decent-sized audience. Many stations around the country are putting their main anchors on Sunday night during sweeps (I believe Q13 does this all the time(.
