What will Cumulus do with WABC?

Second, live and local is far more expensive in NY than in LA or Chicago.

Having done talk, 24-7 live and local in all three markets I disagree. LA is no doubt more expensive than NY, with talent in any language making more on average. In talk, it's widely speculated that the AM and PM anchors on KFI are in the 7 figure zone with no syndication. Some of the Spanish language morning shows are even higher than that, although several are syndicated. Put the compensation for Kevin & Bean or Mark and Brian or Seacrest on the list, and they do better than Shannon or Duran from NY... and the average for LA is going to be comparable to NY if not better... because, simply, the market has so much revenue in it.

KFI eased into more and more local product, so there is no reason why WABC could not strategically add some local content.

But that's a wrong comparison.

KFI being a CC station , their only commitment is to clear the Limbaugh show which is syndicated by Premiere CC, whereas WABC (Citadel) has to clear hannity, imus, levin, batchelor, McIntyre which leaves them with almost no room for any local show.
