What will happen to KMVP?

Anybody know what the long term plans are for KMVP? Will B'Ville even keep the station? Maybe do a "KTAR on Demand" rebroadcast or something?

What a dumb idea. They will either let the station go dark, invest in moving the towers to another location (and presumably find a non-sports format where the occasional game broadcast wouldn't be out of place), or sell it to someone who isn't going to compete with them.

An East Valley Tribune story linked in the "620 Sports First Hire Is..." thread stated that KMVP 860 would be a simulcast of KT'R 620. Didn't say for how long, and one may assume that it will still be the overflow freq. when two games air at the same time, or overlap, with the low man on the totem pole getting dumped to 860.

(Not sure if the term "low man on the totem pole" is now politically incorrect, so I will apologize in advance to all who might have been offended, and will begin diversity training at the Gov. Nappy School of PC, sponsored by the Arizona Socialist Republic ;D).

Is KMVP not simulcasting ESPN programming? I heard them simulcast Doug & Wolf with 620 before 7, but they just ran promos for KTAR at around noon, when 620 was running Dan Patrick.

Keith, I too heard a KT'R (Sports Parking Lot 620) simulcast when doing some spot checking during AMD and PMD. Even heard a legal ID for the simul with a rather quick rendition of "KTAR Phoenix, KMVP Phoenix" with the Sports Siberia 860 part seemingly more rushed.

From your description of other dayparts today, it sounds like 860 was looping the long-form promo they ran all day yesterday.

FYI (not 55, just an FYI), the new legal on KT'R News 92-3 is the same female voice with "KTAR-FM Glendale/Phoenix"--actually it sounds like an edit with the "Phoenix" coming from the end of the former simulcast ID.

I noticed the same thing. You can tell where the cut happened.

Well, they are going to have a hard time finding someone to sell it to when that new owner is going to have to dump up a ton more cash on moving the towers by 2008.
I can see them running the simulcast so they have a place to dump off overflow programming...witness today when the ASU AD show is running on KMVP from 2-2:30 while the new 620 Afternoon show was debuting. Once Lisa Luv finished up 'MVP JIP.
Since they promo themselves as the place for it all, they have the room to run the Coyotes on MVP if Gumpdusky decides to throw in the towel.

Last night, following the Suns game, KTAR was running what sounded like ESPN Radio.

KMVP was running the Orange Bowl...but isn't that also provided by ESPN Radio?

Does ESPN Radio offer multiple programming feeds?

ESPN Radio always has talk programming. Almost any play-by-play event (NBA, MLB, Bowl games, etc.) is going to have some type of local restriction, so someone is going to need filler.
