Now with Jack in town, what will happen to Star? Perhaps a flip to AC would be good. Ideas? Speculations? Discuss.
______________

So far Star has responded to Jack by adding some deep 80s cuts such as "Crazy" by Icehouse and "Naughty girls need love too" by Samantha Fox. They have sweepers to set these songs up, one of them says "the Star music vault is now on shuffle".

Does KSTJ have any plans beyond these tweaks in the 80s format? Someone on here said they will become 90s based alternative "the Edge". But they said it would happen July 4th weekend, here it is Independence day and there is no Edge.

Someone else on this board HEY YOU is very familiar with Beasley. He said Star planned on going Jack but Infinity beat them to the punch. He said that big changes are now on the way for Star.

As for Star going AC. It seems nobody switches to AC these days. Several markets have just one AC and no matter how good it does nobody challenges them. If Sunny 106.5 stays the only AC in Las Vegas I could easily see them jumping to #1 or #2 and staying there each and every book. If La Preciosa stays strong, the way the market is currently structured Clear Channel could place 1-2-3, not just 12+ but 25-54 as well.

The New Star Should Be 20's Through 40's Oldies.

From Vaudeville to the swing band era. All the best from the 1900's to 1940's should be star. There are already three spanish stations in Las Vegas. I think the people who are formatting radio are just plain out of ideas.

We need something to compete with KJUL.

There are two problems with that idea:

1.Most of the people who would enjoy 1900s-1940s music are no longer with us.

2.KSTJ and KJUL are co-owned by Beasley.

Not a good thought. Personally, I like Big Band/Swing. That type of music. But it won't happen. Star should maybe go AC. Lite 1027 or keep the Star moniker.
______________
