What will it take for you to drop XM/Sirius?

For me, if its they decide to take everything jockliss.
Of corse i've subscribed for two years of XM ( or was it three?) around January or so, so i'll have it for a while anyway. As a side note, those of us that subscribed for the plann like I have get the best of Serious included. So now I got Serious on XM< and XM on Serious. lol

If they do anything to degrade the 50's and 60's channels (5 & 6), I'm outta here! And that includes the addition of more VT or jockless programming....

I've come close to cancelling lately, not because of content, but because I don't know if satellite radio is worth the monthly fee to me anymore. But thing that made me stick with it was the "American Top 40" replays. I listen to both episodes every week and consider it worth the extra expense every month. But if AT40 disappears, I might as well just go back to listening to CDs/IPOD/FM radio.

I called to cancel and got 3 months free! I'm still dropping it in 90 days but I'll take the 3 months.

If they were to lose MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, ACC and SEC games I am gone ;D

Losing MLB and NHL would be a deal-breaker for me if the music channels are forced to conform to the tight-playlist, heavy-repetition Sirius philosophy.

I like serious's playlist, as well as XM's. I like XM's compression, but serious's frequency responce is better. I liked the jocks on both services. Ashaim XM is dieing as it is to be honest.

The latest degradation of XM's sound quality with the addition of the Best Of Sirius has just about killed it for me. The sound quality is roughly equal to an AM-Stereo station from the 80's. Pretty sad.

I disagree. A half-decently processed AM stereo station blows XM and Sirius both out of the water because there's no spectral replication of high frequencies on AM (they're just not there!)

O&A are staying (for now). I enjoy the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, Fred, XMU, Bluegrass Junction, Sur La Route, The Blend, Top/Big Tracks on the music side. Sur La Route is probably staying, but the others I'm confident are going bye-bye, especially the 60's, XMU and Top Tracks. :(

That being said, I'll give the new lineup a chance. If it isn't better than regular FM radio, I'll cancel. I can get everything as part of my DirecTV subscription anyway; it won't be difficult to record several hours of the channels for later listening in the car.

All depends on how much the playlists shrink and how many of my favorite channels disappear. I will give it a few months after the mergeing of the channels, then decide if I will be canceling. I hate all my local stations here in the RGV except maybe Jack-Fm.

Same here, 'cept I'm in Mississippi. We have a Jack-ripoff (Jack... Oh nevermind) called Bob FM that has a pretty decent playlist. Unfortunately it's also plagued by technical troubles and high school sounding jocks from time to time. It's a shame, because I think it's one of the better processed stations I've ever heard in this land of ours.

I think the actual few channels I listen to mainly won't be affected, but a lot of the niche channels I went to when I needed a break from those channels are being removed.

But, the Twin Cities has a few decent non-comm stations to listen to...

I dropped it, I've been listening to Internet Radio alot lately.

Honestly. I dont listen to the music on XM anymore. I listen to CDs mostly. I listen to a lot of games on XM however. I also have Live 365 and Slacker. I have a Slacker station that has quite a following now ;D

I have XM & Sirius. I got them to discover music. I have favorites on both services. I would like to see some channels merged & my faves kept. I guarantee that it won't shake out the way I (or any one other person) would like.

I'm looking forward to the new "merged" services. I can't wait. However, I fear that my ecstasy my be short-lived once the newness wears off.

Besides, my 2-year subscription with XM is up in March, & Sirius is up in August. They have till then to make me happy.

If they're really merging the lineups, which looks certain, I'll drop two of my radios. I have two XM units and two for Sirius. I don't need four to hear the same programming. If that happens, I'll drop the Sirius units and keep the XM ones because the XM units have better reception and fewer dropouts.

If they drop the AT-40 replays (which I hear they probably won't), all four will get canceled. Like one of the other posters, I don't get nearly the music from XM or Sirius that I did a year or two ago. I've gone back to getting most of my listening online, especially now that CBS has started streaming its stations on AOL Radio.

Also, to the poster who got the 3 months free for agreeing not to drop, you might want to read the fine print. Maybe they've become more desperate for subscribers than they used to be, but you used to not get 3 consecutive months free. You used to have to agree to keep the service for 6 months, and you'd get billed every other month. If you dropped before 6 months, you'd get billed the full amount for the months you had the service, including those you were originally going to get free.

Actually XM and Serius both never sounded as good as AM could. or FM for that matter.

I have to agree where Sirius is concerned, but when XM launched back in 2001 the SQ was at least equal to FM, if not a tad better.

If an effort is made to keep XM's wider playlists, I'll stay. If we end up with Sirius style repetition...I'm out.

I am thinking about dropping my subscription too since I listening to more Internet Radio too. I saw the new list and they really butchered the Dance category for over 20 more flavors of stupid rock music crap. Especially that they are getting rid of The System and we are getting that terrible Area 38. Why am I still wasting $12.95 a month when I am getting more trance shows on my subscription to Di.fm.
