WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO GET A "PROPER" RHYTHMIC/TOP 40 STATION IN ATLANTA?

I'm serious about pushing for this much needed change, doing whatever, and even working with whoever is necessary for making something happen when it comes to a true quality rhythmic top 40 in Atl. in a serious manner. Even more so - especially if Atl. will be a place where I'll be once again living my life.

There has been more than enough talk on THIS board with (seemingly) action going on every where else except for Atlanta. We (once again) need someone who, in addition to making money, is also serious about delivering a fun station playing MORE of what the people truly want to hear instead of holding the mind set "well, there's really no direct competition, so we'll do it however we want because our listeners really have no other choice but to come to us". We need someone (owner or PD) with a WPOW, WKQI, KIIS, or KPWR mentality who cares more than just about the money. A traditional and listener friendly / fun top 40 sound was successfully done there once (In addition to a rhythmic). It's unfortunate that it was during that one time, no one decided to follow the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" rule..

It won't happen! Atlanta is an Urban city where most teens are probaly listening to V-103 and HOT 107.9. Cox had the right idea with skewing 95.5 THE BEAT hip-hop/pop before they died. However, with 2 Urbans and 2 Pops already in the city I don't see it happening.

The Groove sounds alright, but are you confident that The Groove will take the chance with what they're currently doing for the long run of things or give up and flip without even giving things a further chance? I remember Q100 wasn't doing it's best for a while during their fist days, but their owners believed in what they were doing and worked it until it "reached the top".

95.5 The Beat was alright as well. Only problem is that they were just boring. It was all strictly basic. It was almost like a sense of giving up even before the flip actually happened. I'm not exactly sure what the deal was with WiLD (I've heard rumors that other stations complained about them), but I can only wonder why a party style station just can't ever be held out there? It seems like Q100 is the only place that truly believed in their station enough to get it where it was now (and could probably have even worked for a good rhythmic if they were just as dedicated as the pioneers of Q).

V-103 and Hot 107.9 are winning with most teens... by default because there's a drastic difference between Q and those stations. As a matter of fact, they're probably flipping back and fourth a lot. Maybe Q didn't pick up right away, but once people got used to "that new sound and style of formatting", it worked wonders. Those Q pioneers were true believers of a station... that follow up owner(s) almost let get killed by their competition.

Clear Channel's WILD 96.7 was the perfect Rhythmic station!!!!!!!!!!! IDK why Clear Channel didn't just re-luanch it.

I listened last night and it sounds alot more rhythmic now.. I dont think the Katy perry song belonged, and their didnt seem to be any dance/pop stuff like Lady Gaga in the mix,,,, So I think they are still working on it.. Get rid of the guitar pop and bring in the Urban/pop/dance.. and some more uptempo hip hop,, drop the urban ac type stuff,, its supposed to be either rhythmic or rhythmic ac,, and both formats require uptempo stuff with pop/dance,, definately guitar pop/rock doesnt belong on any kind of rhythmic format.

I don't think the Katy Perry is going anywhere anytime soon because most rhythmics are playing both of her songs. The urban ac stuff is gone, and some updated hip hop and urban pop has been filled in. As far as dance, I think for now that will mainly be limited to Friday & Saturday nights.

THE PARTY STATION IS GREAT AND LOOKS LIKE IT WILL GET EVEN BIGGER!
