What will kabc do now that the dodgers are leaving kabc next year

The all sports station are getting them so whats kabc going to do???That will drop there revenue quite a bit so i bet cumulus has plans for them but has them under wraps. Time will tell kids and above all enjoy the ride. I wish everyone at kabc well but they really need to get rid of mgmt there they have ruiend that station as we all know.

What station are they going to? I don't see anything pertaining to the Dodgers' broadcasts other than the entire announcing team, including Vin Scully, returning for 2012. I haven't seen anything about them leaving KABC. Besides, wouldn't the bankruptcy court have to approve any new deal?

The Dodgers may be moving to an all-sports station but they aren't getting a bigger signal. Not sure if they'll cover more area on 570 than they did on 790. :)

The Lakers did well on 570 for years, so I think the Dodgers would do just as well. Especially if its an all sports station and not transitioning into a game after some shouting angry right wing (or left wing) idiot. Im sure the core audience will follow over to KLAC.

KLAC ads several million to the 10 mV/m coverage vs. KABC. KABC is higher on the dial, and much of the signal is wasted over the ocean. KLAC is a significantly better signal, and has a lot less night interference, too.

Thanks for the info, David! :)

Those pretty Radio Locator maps for KLAC and KABC don't look that much different but my personal listening experience supports your premise. As for the ocean signal waste all LA stations lose a lot over the Pacific, the nature of ground wave propagation and the less than desirable conductivity of Southern California soil.

Two things to keep in mind:

The Radio-Locator maps are marked, at the bottom, as "for entertainment only." And the really useful contour is about 20% inside the innermost red contour. That's because that's where about 95% of all at home and at work listening takes place... while stations can be heard at greater distances, listeners don't seek out marginal signal levels.

And the ground conductivity on basin areas and lowlands is not bad... much better than the Atlanta area or Long Island. In CA, it decreases as you move inland or into mountains, but coastal areas are among the best.

KABC will be need to be infomercials all day long to make up for that Dodgers loss in revenue. Tim Conway Jr will be on 24 hours a day hocking every product under the sun. The guy is a whore.

You have used that word in two different threads now, and I must inform you that the word is "hawking". Yes, like the bird. That is all.

Tim Conway Jr. doesn't work for KABC. Are they going to hire him away from KFI to be an infomercial reader? :D

No, but the Cash Daddy show he hosts is a syndicated program and appears on stations other than KFI, including KABC.
