According to All Access, Star has a new positioner, namely, "L.A. & ORANGE COUNTY'S MODERN ADULT STATION."

Charese Fruge is still the PD, at least for now, and the morning show producer, Brian Holt, will "assist her with music duties and record calls...."

In the brief All Access article Fruge suggests that the station didn't drastically change directions today. Gee, I wonder if they will still be giving away those Kelly Clarkson tickets I heard them contesting with yesterday?

Live 105 struggles to stay in the top 20 adult rankings in San Francisco. Channel 104.9 struggles to stay in business. Maybe Star should work on something with a bit more potential.
 
Talking Furniture is right.
I don't mean any disrespect to Live in all of this. For a commercial Modern Rock station it's pretty awesome and innovative. It's also got a lot of heritage as it's been doing Modern Rock since the mid 80s.
At the same time K-Rock has been around longer, has a highly successful morning show, is known as trendsetter, and the people there really know how to program a successful station overall (regardless of format).

As good as Live is, the bay area is not a great Alt/Mod Rock market. It is a great place for Classic Rock based AAA KFOG which owns the market. LA however, does much better with Alt Rock than Classic Rock.
