What will WFME's format be on May 22, 2011?

If "the world is ending" on May 21, Harold Camping won't need WFME after that date. It would be most logical for him to sell WFME for cash right now, use the cash to spread his agenda, and then transfer ownership on May 22 if the world doesn't end. And if the world does end, he just made a lot of money to take to the afterlife!

I think it will be called "Eat Crow 94.7" when nothing happens.

I'll take it, run a real country station and get a 3.0

It would get more listeners if 94.7 played Britney's "Till The World Ends" continuously till the world ends.

He and Major Applewhite would then probably start an ultra-satellite radio network.

As a devout Christian, I woundn't even listen to Harold Camping. He is a man that shouldn't even be taken seriously.

Thanks,
Kevin L. Sealy

They should switch Star 99.1 to the 94.7 frequency and on 99.1 put an oldies format that will serve areas that can't receive CBS FM or WOGL due to interference.

To parrot another poster's signature: "Sell WFME. New York's wasted frequency!"

I, too, am a committed Christian. This man is an utter embarrassment. Period! He said this back in 1994, and was wrong. :p

The very Bible he claims to believe, specifically PROHIBITS this foolishness. You can be sure, the Lord will not be returning on May 21'st. The Bible says *NOBODY* knows the day or hour, and when it actually happens, NOBODY will be expecting it! Since he and his followers will be expecting it, it can't happen, so that false prophecy is self-nullifying.

How about 94.7 goes to a smooth jazz format station, to replace the one that was taken away some time ago? Or for the soon-coming K-Love station on 96.7 to get WFME's frequency, instead? Suffice it to say, yes, Mr Camping will most certainly be wearing copious amounts of EGG, and facing a LOT of angry creditors, come end-of-month! I sincerely PRAY that he will lose *EVERY* station he now owns. Silence this embarrassing false prophet, once and for all.

The reason I say country for this signal is that it puts a significant signal into all of northern NJ, much farther west than the other NYC B's because it IS much farther west. Still has a good signal in NYC too. But the numbers for country won't come from in the city, yet it's a different situation than the failed Y-107 quadcast experiment because this is one signal, that comes in well throughout most of the metro (except going out on Long Island).

My other choice would be to do a well programmed AAA. Not the WRXP version of AAA, but a real one. No Guns N Crap, AC/DC etc.

And yeah, Camping is a "maroon" as Bugs Bunny used to say. It's just a shame that others listen to him and think this is going to happen and quit their jobs, leave their homes... for nothing to happen on 5/21. He's running a spread out Jonestown here. I still don't know why he can't be had for a hoax. Could I go on the air and say that NYC is going to sink into the sea? Someone said that he "truly believes it" so therefore it isn't a hoax. Fraud perhaps? Seems like irresponsible broadcasting to me. Of course they see it completely the other way around, but for the rest of the world sans the nincompoops who think the end is nigh, it is an embarrassment. I'm a Christian and would hardly call him such.

I'd add 99.5 WBAI to that, both of them are a total waste right now ::)

On May 22, 2011, WFME and WBAI will have the same format they do currently. Some things just never change, sad to say! :(

The guy is a total nut-job. Of course we knew that his 1994 predictions were false. We're still here! :) This guy is an embarrassment to Christianity and he should not be taken seriously. I too am a committed Christian. But I am truly looking forward to May 22nd to see what his "explanations" will be. Betcha he'll just make another prediction for another date on "Phony 94.7 FM". There ought to be a law against such nonsense and bunk to be thrown on the public's airwaves. God will return in His own time and date to be determined by Him, and not by Family Radio. I'm just dying to see how his "flock" of contributors will think about him and Family Radio after the "end" never happens. Should be fun to watch. :)

Camping has a 1000 watt (500 watt critical hours) daytimer here in Connecticut, WCTF 1170 AM and the guy could put Sominex and other sleeping tablet makers out of business with his voice. Camping is just a follower of PT Barnum, I guess!!!

That being said, wanna bet that Camping will announce that the date of the end times will be delayed a few years because of a miscalculation of his part? Or bet that this is all a ruse, and Camping believes that man indeed knows nothing on when the world ends?

Harold camping will be going part 15 on 94.7 as a way to make the world a better place for all people and thus "saving the world" !

For Camping, worse-case scenario is that he'll face backlash, listenership and donations will fall, and Camping will sell his stations to a more worthy group. Best case scenario -- Camping will get more donations and listeners, and roll with it.

Was Camping on WFME back in 1994? What was the fallout back then? My guess is a similar outcome will occur this time too. I highly doubt there will be any changes to the radio station.

People are sadly still too stupid to donate money to Ralph Gordon "Brother" Stair. I wouldn't hold my breath on a listener backlash.

However, the difference between Camping's false prophesy of 1994 and his false prophesy of today... is the proliferation of the internet, three major cable news networks and all sorts of other information-gathering sources. Maybe Camping isn't able to slime his way out of that in the long run. But there's no way I would know for sure.

And in the end, all of his followers are too brainwashed to make any decisions for themselves. Shame.
