What will WPTF & WSJS replace the talk shows they are losing?

This may be one to think about, with WPTF & WSJS losing Rush & Sean Hannity, what will replace them, if i was programming 680, keep the current information block from 5am until 9am, continue to run Dave Ramsey 9am till Noon, carry Micheal Smerconish Noon to 3, Bill LuMaye would stay 3 until 6pm, then from 6pm till 9pm, carry Mark Levin "live", bring back "Open Line" from 9pm until Midnight, and run the "Midnight Trucking Radio Network" from Mdinight until 5am.
As for 600/1200 ,Brian Freeman stays on 5am until 9am, J.R. Snider would still air 9am to 10am, Dave Ramsey would stay on 10am
until 12 Noon, i would add Micheal Smerconish Noon until 3pm, run Bill Lumaye from WPTF 3pm to 6pm, "The WSJS Evening News" from 6
until 7, keep Mark Levin 7 until 9, simulcast "Open Line" from WPTF from 9pm until Midnight, and have "The Midnight Trucking Network"
overnights from Midnight until 5am.
Any other suggestions?, the floor is open for debate...

I love those ideas! I don't care for him, but there is Mike Gallagher, a popular conservative talk show host who could work. I don't know about contractual issues, but they could move Clark Howard or Neal Boortz from 101.1 (is it considered a GSO or RDU station, market wise)?

WZTK Burlington is in Alamance County, which is part of the Greensboro Metro (ratings).

Don't forget, Curtis has the power to hire non-syndicated talent to fill these slots.
Once you get past the top three or four syndicated talk show hosts, you're not getting anybody "special".

Don't laugh, on WPTF , Dr. Laura might be a good companion to Dave Ramsey in mid-days. She still pulls serious ratings in many markets. Very female friendly.

Both WSJS and WPTF have adapted well in the past. This situation will be a much greater challenge because they are losing their anchor programs. If they can afford it, a midday live and local program would offer listeners an interesting alternative. Otherwise, I'd guess they would opt for some sort of apolitical programming to go after a different audience.

If they try to replace Limbaugh and Hannity with other syndicated political shows, they'll probably get creamed.

I don't live in the Triad/Trangle, but I really hate this for these AMers that have carried Rush for so long. Rush came along and gave AM the needed boost it needed and still needs. I wish and pray the best to WSJS and WPTF. Regarding replacement programming for WSJS/WPTF, how does Fox News Radio's lineup fare -- ratings wise? I believe there's Bryan and The Judge mid-mornings, John Gibson midday, and Alan Colmes at night. I forget who -- if anyone -- runs on Fox Radio between Gibson and Colmes.

I wonder if CMG has given any thought to possibly developing a regional program to replace Rush. Perhaps focusing on NC politics or whatever's hot in the state and networking on the stations that are having to replace Rush. They will start out with at least two strong affiliates in 2 large markets and I would think it wouldn't be any problem to add one in Charlotte. They have the resources and this may be the time to think out of the box. With the money they're not paying for Rush and what ever is in the local budget for talent, they will be able to bring in some great talent.

Mike going to be real busy with Burr's re-election campaign. The Dem's believe that Burr is vulnerable next year. (They also believe Tuesday was a vote of confidence.)

How long before someone convinces Sarah Palin to start her own talk show? She could take half or more of Rush and Hannity's listeners and with the addition of more new conservative talk FMs in the past year or two, I see a good opportunity for someone thinking of running again, with no current political position. Someone who needs her name and views out there among conservative Republicans. 600-1200 Palin Radio. ;D While I would never vote for her, I know her show would bring revenue. It could bring higher numbers than Rush to WSJS and WPTF, along with the media excitement leading up to it.

I doubt that Palin would survive on radio. I like the former Governor; but I doubt she can think on her feet well enough to handle a live national radio audience. It's a tough crowd, not to mention the TV coverage from Stewart, Leno, Letterman and Mahr she would get.

That is what she needs to prepare for another run in 2012. If she can't handle it, she can't handle the Presidency. It would strengthen her ability to debate.

Locally, Nathan Tabor could bring a crowd. He knows local politics from a conservative side. Would Yvonne Johnson join him on the radio to talk local issues from both parties view? Rush is only one point of view. This is also a chance to talk on issues impacting the Triad.

Sarah Palin? Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! Unless heavily controlled like the people Rush lets on, the listeners would eat her alive! She doesn't have the knowledge, intellectual curiosity, or education to pull it off. CMG really should try to get X-Talker. He could do it. I imagine they've already thought of that.

That would make it fun though. ;D I would expect heavy screening, coaching and guests with the same views. She needs debate training and this is a good way to get it. If she tries to run for President in 2012, she will face the same pressure. I think she would attract new listeners to talk radio. Honestly, I don't think she is presidential. She can peak in 2008 and be remembered for what she did then or she can become a voice of the party and increase her chances to win.
