What will WRKO do to improve their product (if anything)?

-1pm-4pm "WRKO Today" Bring back Jen Brien for this, have her talk about Various Topics and Entertainment
She's on WBZ right now, talking to some UFO nut, as though there isn't enough of this nonsense on 680 overnight.
ok then, I didn't know she was on WBZ, thank you for that update.
Also, that's why I say, put on "America Tonight" instead of "Coast To Coast" Because "America Tonight" has many different topics, and is simular to Howie Carr show, sooo

I got a better idea. Have Entrecom spin it off to a local group, who can bring back the old WILD format that was on AM 1090 for years. Not the "Tom Joyner-Radio One Talk" crap, but locally produced soul and hip hop shows with gospel music all day and night on Sunday, reggae music on Saturday and quiet storm from midnight to 6 each night. And have it simulcast on 107.3 and 97.7.

If they think it'll make money but 97.7 is // WAAF to help get signal into town. Plus: adds another revenue stream. Minus: hurts WAAF. And if they felt it would help the cluster 97.7 would have switched long ago, be it to a revival of Mike, a WRKO simulcast (though now they'll prob just stick to AM), soul or whatever.

There aren't really any political talk hosts who can relate to an audience under 45 years old.

Maybe a longshot, but locally, you have Matt Allen in Providence. He relates to a younger audience.

I'd put WRKO on 97.7 FM. I think the following lineup would help them to target much younger.

Suggested Lineup:
6-10 Hillman Morning Show
10-12 Dan Andelman
12-3 Michael Graham
3-7 Howie Carr
7-11 Matt Allen

Hmm but they have a contract to run Rush and the biz news people give them $, but who knows. Howie btw is a spring chicken at 61.

I'd have kept WAAF at Asnebumskit, and increased power a bit. Signal from Paxton was a monster! 97.7 would give cochannel WCTY Norwich fits at times when I'd tune in in Coventry.

WRKO needs more variety and more entertainment value in their programming. I doubt even the die-hard conservatives want to listen to 24 hours of "we don't like Obama" programming. Mix it up a bit. Talk radio doesn't have to be all doom and gloom. I guess we can't resurrect Larry Glick to entertain us, but even Dr. Laura would be an improvement at this point.

Does anyone remember when Stephanie Miller was on WRKO? Was the show local (she was AT WRKO, not delivered by satellite)? What was the format? Was it right? left? center? Given her background as the daughter of a Republican vice-presidential candidate, and her later career as a left-wing talker, I would be interested in what her WRKO show was like.

It was 10p-midnight and based at KABC LA. At one point she was dropped by KABC but still on some stations like WRKO (did the show from LA still). (There WAS a show or two where she did the show from WRKO
as part of a promotional appearance...at one point she was in a taxi and calling in etc.)
She was to the left then too. One sidekick was Carloz Alazaraqui, the voice of the Taco
Bell Chiahuahua.

gasper or minehan could crossover to straight talk

Some local writers with great pipes and broadcast experience could crossover in the way tbat guy mainella and shaughnessy did. Maybe pair them with meghain mccain, krrry healy or jennifer nassour. Would be entertaining...

Since j and m were cancelled i have been listening to bbc2' its an interesting format:
Guests, phone calls, tweets, texts, classic music, newmusic from classic artists like madness and mavericks, and of course bbc news on the hour

Isn't Genesis one of those "Pay-For-Play" networks, like the old TalkAmerica? Hosts buy the time?

I'm pretty sure that's the idea....especially since the shortwave station they're based at...WWCR, Nashville, TN, USA is itself a brokered operation.

If I remember correctly...think they may also have some of the "Dream Vision 7" programming that pops up on ?WUFC? 1510. GOD!....I HATE those new calls ;)

I thought so...I've sampled a few of the programs, and the hosts are a far from "network quality". I don't even think I'd hire any of them locally, to be honest.

Maybe 1510 should change their calls back to WITS, for [old joke alert!] What Is This S***!

that's why I gave the ideas that I gave. I'm with you with most of this
