What would be the best thing to happen...

Two votes:

1. See the Jolly Joe/Imus thread.
2. FM Sports station.

Clear Channel to fire all the Brian Check groupies at B-104
John Fraunfelter to move to York to run a guitar shop
Ken and Kitty to hit a 20 share 25-54 persons at The Hawk
WZZO finally becomes Z-95 (again)
WCTO becomes WLEV and WLEV becomes WFMZ-FM (again)
Gene Worley tells more 2 hour stories to the PD at Citadel

WLEV: Open the playlist to become a "Better Than Jack" station, also bring back the "WABC PAMS" re-sings.
WGPA: Would love to see a new owner come in and blow out the polka. FOCUS, GRASSHOPPER!
WEST/WHOL: Si Habla ENGLAIS????
WBYN: 3 words "Full Power Signal" (yes, people DO miss 107.5 Alive)

Leave well enough alone: WAEB (AM and FM), WZZO, WZYY or whatever the calls are), WCTO, WODE

WZZO: More Alternative Rock. Enough of this so-called crap they call rock now
WCTO: REAL country like Lucinda Williams and Johnny Cash. not this crappy pop-country that people have the nerve to call country
WODE: more rare b-sides like they were playing when they first went on-air. also, I hope Ken and Kitty clean house in the market.
WLEV: I agree with a former poster. Bring back WFMZ. the station has been on a downhill spiral since dumping WFMZ, no matter how many format tweaks they try.
WAEB-FM: Never should have gotten ride of Ken Matthews

WEEX: More local sports and a wrestling show would be good ... the same goes with the other sports station at 1470. i think wrestling is a huge market untouched in this area for a good talk show. we'll see if one of these two competitors catches on first.
WHOL: who cares
WGPA: all 50s and 60s oldies. move polka just to sundays, but make it all day sunday to make up. drop the goofy brokered shows.
WAEB-AM: more balanced talk shows, not all right wing. some liberal. some conservative. some independent!

Are there ANY n/t stations that are successful at balancing all sides of the political isle and keep in business? Seems to me that'd be a Jack-esque format for talk...and, as we're seeing now, that just doesn't work. But I'd be interested in some examples of successful left/right/center combo talk stations.

Numerically, has his exit hurt B104 in any way?

Due to the Benoit incident and the continual news of wrestlers dying from all their abuses including steroids and other drugs Wrestling is no longer a popular topic. Plus the actual product itself leaves a lot to be desired. A wrestling talk show focusing on the golden age of Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund, Dory Funk Jr., Wahoo Mcdaniel and others would be good. not many anymore will listen to a show about todays wrestling. Especially as they die off one by one. Sadly there should be bets placed in Vegas on which wrestler will die next.

Huh? While I recognize all those names from UHF TV of my youth, (Bruno was "The Man" on my Saturday afternoons), you're suggesting a wrestling talk radio show? It would never fly. (No pun intended).

For me personally, I would love a full blown 100 percent flame throwing CHR. I haven't done a shift at Cat Country in over a year and I'll hand in my keycard for that...lol

Well, you have this problem. Professional wrestling isn't a sport. Vince McMahon himself finally came off that bandwagon a number of years ago and admitted it's "entertainment". You could make the argument that it appeals to a lot of men, so putting it on a sports station would hit the right audience, but from a station stand point, you would turn off a lot of real sports fans that want to hear sports talk.

Let's get back on point here...

B104 surprisingly didn't take a hit after Matthews left. Their numbers have gone up

That actually makes sense...everybody IN radio wants to always put a high value on the talent. Often, we're the only ones who really care when someone's let go.

Sadly, on-air folk aren't worth what they once were to the radio listener...that's why there always will be a long list of very talented, ex-personalities talking about a set of on-air's in a market that really don't belong.

i think the part that all of u are missing when it comes to personalities is thier "value" from an advertising perspective.. for example.. bearman and keith are never number one in the ratings.. but i bet u if they left zzo's ad revenue would shrink considerably. and get me if i'm wrong.. isn't that what the game is truly all about?? now if u wanna say b104's numbers didn't shrink or even went up after ken matthews left i would ask doesn't everyone's after someone leaves caus people always wanna check out the new guy?? but i would bet lunch for a month that b104's ad revenues are down considerably caus that man was a marketing machine. numbers for ratings are great.. but when u have an institution that is a consistent performer i would guess that would be far better a value to the station.

on another note though.. i still can't beleive so much is being said about a small second hand radio station like wgpa.. jolly joe must be rolling over in his grave... oh wait.. he's still got one leg out lol.

???wow!I didn't realize that 100.7 as WFMZ had so many fans. I guess ya'll are missing your elevator music. 100% automation 24/7.
