What would WYSP have become?

Kidd Chris has repeatedly mentioned that if he didn't agree to mornings, WYSP would have flipped. This morning, he referenced a "Y-94" with the tagline "Today's Best Music", saying that something along those lines was one plan brought up while he was in discussions. That sounds to me like a WPST/WIOQ type format, but why would CBS want to jump into something WIOQ and WRDW seem to have a lock on? Naturally, the "Y" brings to mind Y100, but that tagline doesn't fit with an Alternative format.

Thoughts? What would CBS have done with WYSP?

"fresh", was going to be the format until the last second....but the suits figured a women based format would not go well with the eagles, mix that in with the tremendous success of the only game in town for a year mmr, plus the onslaught and breakout ratings of 104.5 and it was a no brainer to go active once again.

But wouldn't a "Fresh" have conflicted with WOGL and have it's main competitor as WBEB?

And let's not forget not too long ago, CBS registered the domain fresh981.com...

CBS runs CBS-FM and Fresh 102.7 in New York. They're very different stations. CBS-FM is an upbeat, foreground Oldies station targeting adults 35-54. Fresh plays soft newer cuts with a background AC-type presentation, targeting women almost excluslvely, approximately 30-39. Most of the songs on Fresh are from the 2000s.

Your second statement is true. Fresh would compete directly with B-101. If the marketing was going to be the same as it is in New York, it would focus on casting B-101 as the moldy boring lite station.
