I was supposed to do this last night but got distracted. Hey look a chicken! Ok anyway... I am curious to know what everyone would want on all of the listenable FM's in Columbus. I'll start with the ones I listen to normally.
.3- Leave it country. However, I do know a lot of people who would like to hear older songs on there as well, me included. Maybe do something on Friday and Saturday night like WNCI does, but make it a "Country Party." All upbeat songs, and take requests. Play some "country on the edge" like Steve Earle's Copperhead Road.
.3- Keep it classic hits, but make it sound like classic hits. Play anything from the 60's to the 90's, much like WKXA out of Findlay or like 104.5 WJJK out of Indy. LOVE those stations.
.7- Leave it at AC/Soft rock. You know, doctors office music.
.5- Keep it classic country. That being said, the same song shouldn't be heard twice within 2 days. I have a playlist on my computer that plays country 3 days straight without repeating. Mostly older country.
.3- Keep it rock. Play more deep cuts and quit leaning towards The Brew. Keep it mainly 60's, 70's and early 80's.
.1- Seems to work out for them, so keep it where it's at.
.9- Expand their playlist.
.9- I like what they have done. Some disagree, but that's ok, we all have our own opinions. I like a station that will play anything.
.7- Needs to play some harder rock. Keep playing current material, throwing in some tunes from when The Blitz was really The Blitz. 98.9 WBYR in Ft Wayne sounds great, just look at their list at yes.com.
.3- Keep it country. It works for them and has for a while now.
.7- Not really sure what I'd do with it. I like it, so probably nothing.
.5- Not sure what's going on with them, but keep it I suppose.
.9- If they aren't going to play heavier music on The Blitz, put it on here.
.5&104.3- Split them up. Sell of 104.3 and let Marysville and Union county have their own local station, much like WNKO. Keep it focused on Marysville, but include traffic from the west side of Columbus for commuters. Put a country variety or mix format on there. Not sure what I would put on 103.5. Maybe bring Jazz back?
.9- Keep it.
.7- Give Columbus an Urban and R&B station. It's signal doesn't get out too far, but works in the city.
.7- Make it a late 80's to today alternative station. Play everything, including new music from artists coming up.
.1- They will never compete against WCOL, so find something else. Maybe put hard rock back on there.
.9- Leave it with the Mix format. Play today's new music and ones from the past. Basically WNCI with a wider playlist that doesn't play the brand new songs once an hour.
I'm sure I missed some, but this is my general idea. I know Columbus is limited to changing it's Clear Channel stations, but pretend they're not available. Pretend you own every station that you can hear.
