WHATEVER HAPPENED TO CLEVELAND WHEELER?

I was one of the first 1000 subscribers to XM. I couldn't wait to hear somebody to it right and be able to hear that anywhere i went in the states. What a thrill. Still is, but you can tell that there are corporate limits on some things in the past few years.

It was exciting to listen to the results of people being allowed to create something not just different, but substantive and entertaining....and way out of the ordinary fare of the stake broadcast band.

I am an oldies buff so I started at 60s and moved around to discover but found myself staying in longer periods to the 60s channel.

I was waiting for somebody to start talking about the artists and music with respect. To tell the stories that are never told by the oldies stations that act like they know it all but never say anything.

Some of the programming that Wheeler created for that channel was pure genius...not even VH-1 or MTV ever did anything like HERE AND THERE..a show that compares what England was playing while America was bring invaded by British music. It was all totally different but what fun to listen to!

There is so much more to radio than coloring inside the lines and the guy who put that channel together was brilliant. I still do not understand why FM doesn't get a clue from any of this. You would have thought that terrestrial radio would have started stealing everything they could being as they sure can't create it on their own.

I just wondered if anyone knew where Cleveland Wheeler was and why he left XM? Inquiring minds and XM fans want to know. ... and how to get him back..at least doing more of this same kind of stuff for any decades channel. Are you listening XM?
