whatever happened to Dick Flavin?

Dick Flavin is alive and well. He appears on Mike Barnicle's 96.9 WTKK FM morning radio show every now and then. Last month he hosted a Media Gang Luncheon to induct Jess Cain, Rex Trailer, Don Kent, Paul Benzaquin and Frank Avruch into the Massachusetts Radio Hall of Fame.

Flavin is still sharp and funny and he should be back on TV.

Frankly, I think is is an age discrimination thing just like John Henning over at Channel 4 being replaced by Jon Keller or Paula Lyons being dropped at Channel 5 because she was in her 50's.

I believe Paula Lyons sued Channel 5 on an age discrimination suit and won. YEAH !!!

Lot's of personnel at WBZ have not had contracts renewed: many of them young and attractive (Tony Pepper's girlfriend). I suppose some were over 55 and could haved sued. But maybe they just weren't wanted anymore.
If the suit was settled BZ was probably just afraid what might happen with a jury. Otherwise I can't see what the merits of the case were. If she were 20 years younger doing the same work would she have been retained: maybe, maybe not?
