Whatever Happened To Mike Kennedy

Mike worked part time at WINS and did traffic for Shadow back in the 90's. I met Mike when I started at WERA in '94 when he was news director. I wore a lot of hats then, even did news, and Mike really helped me in how to write and deliver the news. When I started at WRNJ in '95 I recommended Mike for the news director spot when the position came up. We got along great; we used to call us "the spud brothers" for our Irish heriteges. I lost touch with him when I got canned in '96 and recently have thinking about how he's been. He's a true newsman in every sence in the word, and any GM woul've been foolish not to hire him.

Hey, Spud Brother,

Saw Mike a few months back at the funeral of a mutual friend in South Plainfield. He now does paralegal work (whomever the law firm is that hired him got a fine, fine writer!) and, indeed, I believe that he is working in the Hackettstown area, too. Mike's doing fine, thanks, and the radio world is poorer for his on-air absence.

Mike was a great newsman and should of been at WCTC instead of WERA with his talent. He was WERA along with DJ Bob Morris.

WERA is a missed station in the Central Jersey area.

Tony, you said a mouthful! And, I can tell you that their buyout by WWRL was totally unnecessary for the "nothing" signal the big 1600 doesn't dump into our area! It is shameful that the Plainfields and surrounding areas lack decent local coverage in the mass media, and residents are forced to rely on blogs to get their local news on a timely basis. Seems they never knew how good they had it with local radio from WERA. The calibre of talent working there was phenomenal and I, too, miss all of my co-workers. Happy New Year, a little late and rock on!
