Whatever happened to......part 2

Scott Paulsen has been in Pittsburg, Pa for the past 20 years..First as a jock and then a talk show host. I'm not sure if he is still there in that capacity or not.

Greg Williams is now the defensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins.
Oh, sorry, that guy is Gregg Williams. My bad. ;D

Scott Paulsen was fired today from WTZN, The Zone, in Pittsburgh.

Everyone at the Zone was fired. The're flipping formats friday from talk radio to who knows what.

Speaking of Scott Paulsen, I wonder whatever happened to "Benji Norton" the guy who replaced Scott back in 1986?

Plus I wonder whatever happened to these guys.

Greg Moyers
Mark Richards
Dennis Wilson

And while today might not be the bright spot in Paulsen's career, people should know he is an INSTITUTION in Pittsburgh.

Along with a Pittsburgh comedian named Jimmy Krenn, during the 90s they had the hippest, funniest, and most creative local morning show I have ever heard.

For years KDKA was the unquestioned leader in Pittsburgh radio. Paulsen and Krenn literally paved the way for classic rocker WDVE to knock off KDKA in a few books in the early 90s and then establish the station as No. 1 in Pittsburgh this decade.

No real fall from grace, the station had really poor ratings, 0.9 to be exact. Scott is much loved in Pittsburgh and will always have listeners who are willing to follow him to whatever station he ends up at, but I think most everyone would like to see him back at DVE.

The deal was he left his gig as a DJ with a lot of on-air at the top-rated station in town to a mid-day talk show host at a station that really wasn't that good.

He took a risk- it didn't work out- but I'd bet he's back on his feet soon.

As 74 said, he's an icon here and just was a victim of the business.

Why did he leave DVE. I am thinking, he should have been doing the Morning Show
it might have driven the station better. It seems that he had the biggest following
of all the dreay talent there.

Scott first left DVE in 1999 or 2000 after doing the Morning Show there. If I remember right and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, it had to do with getting up so early. He worked about a year or so at another station here in Pittsburgh and then came back to DVE in 2002 doing an later show. He left back in September to sit out his 6 months and then work for The Zone, his contract was up with DVE. Scott probably does have one of the biggest followings in Pittsburgh.

last I heard Benji has his own production company....of course that was about a year and half ago I ran into that....who knows now.... ;)

I don't think he's calling DVE dreary, I think he means Pittsburgh radio as a whole.

sorry i have spelling issues, i was refering to the Zone. lousy talent in the burg for sure, but the Zone was real bad.
Paulsen should have been the star there. That is what i meant

In my opinion, the format on the Zone just never clicked with the listeners. Not so much lousy talent, more lousy format. However, I do think you won't find any better talent anywhere in the world then you do at DVE, but that's just me.

No, it was bad talent.

John McIntire? Hello!

I think I can safely say John McIntire could not get a job in East Tennessee with his schtick.

Now, maybe that's not the biggest damnation in the world, but it does lead creedence to Shoot's comments.
